Hello, I am a big fan of this game and wish to contribute a few simple ideas I feel would improve the quality of the game experience. I would like to propose a way to add depth to the faction war system while at the same time adding additional game modes and player/community incentive by using pieces already within the game.

I would like to see events arise from a faction breaking all the way into an enemy territory to its stronghold. My idea is that when a faction reaches the stronghold of an enemy, a second game mode option opens up in dominion for these two factions. The time length of this battle could be one territory update to 24 hours from the start of the attack.

This game mode would be, "Storm the gates!"(working title) which would be an escort the ram map. The same map or similar to the one in the single player campaign. Adjusting it to multiplayer, the objective would be something like to control 2 rams/paths that start separate and then join to 1 very large gate or 2 gates.

Attackers and defenders would be set according to the scenario at hand (teams are faction vs faction)and war assets would go to the territory under attack(Or mixed teams as normal and just collect assets the normal way). Additional assets from Knights/Samurai playing other game modes e.g. duel/brawl can be manually placed and will receive from auto deployment. Having the same or much stronger front bonus (+50-100%), and/or possibly a small exp bonus would encourage playing the mode.

The winner of this siege period would receive a prize. If the Invaders successfully breach the gates they hold that territory for the next round to attack again and receive a premium box for looting the city. If the defending faction is successful, they take the territory back and receive a basic box for scavenging the fleeing siege army. A global counter on the main multiplayer screen would need to be implemented as well. It would show for each faction: successful stronghold attacks, successful stronghold defenses.

An example scenario might play out:

  • Samurai invade Knight territory
  • Samurai reach the Knight Stronghold through territory "A"
  • "Storm the Gates!" mode becomes playable for Knights and Samurai faction members for time period "T"
  • Knights and Samurai players apply war assets to "A" during "T"
  • "T" ends and Samurai have placed more War Assets
  • Samurai players receive a premium crate
  • Samurai faction continues to control "A" and receives +1 next to "successsful city attacks" column on multiplayer menu screen
  • "T" resets and "Storm the Gates!" remains a playable game mode for both factions
  • Knights and Samurai players apply war assets to "A" during "T"
  • "T" ends and Knights have placed more War Assets
  • Knight players receive a basic crate
  • Knight faction takes control of "A" and receives +1 next to "successful city defenses" column on multiplayer menu screen
  • "Storm the Gates!" is no longer a playable mode for either faction

This system provides greater rewards for triumph and discourages continuous unsuccessful attacks since it would feed the enemy rewards and open your stronghold up to attack by the third faction. Especially since this extra mode takes the focus of the war assets. It also (more importantly) gives the player base a deeper (slightly) immersion into the game since the effects of the war you wage will be seen and (semi)permanent via the spoils and scoreboard.
