My game freezes almost every time that I open the skill menu. It's usually after being in the skill menu for a bit and trying to decide which next upgrade would be best for my gameplay style. Any time spent inside the skill menu is a freeze risk for me. It's pretty annoying; to the point where I avoid accessing the skill menu until I'm ready to end my session. Then I hope that I can get all my upgrades in before it freezes.
My game will also sometimes, but rarely, freeze while in the middle of gameplay. I have not been able to tell if these crashes occur before or after I have accessed the skill menu.
Also note that I say freeze and not crash. I don't get the option to send an error report when this happens. When the game crashes, I have to CTRL+ALT+DEL. That brings up the Windows "Why did you just press CTRL+ALT+DEL?" screen, and I can click task manager. Unfortunately, once I click task manager, since I play the game in full-screen mode (and GRW seems to think it must be pretty important) all I see is a blank white GRW window with no action tiles in the top right (minimize, window, X) and my mouse pointer has disappeared, so I can't do anything but ALT+TAB back into the frozen game, then ALT+TAB back to the blank window covering up my screen and mouse. I can't ALT+TAB to any other screens, no start menu, nothing. It took me a while to figure out that once I select task manager, and am looking at the blank window of GRW disappointment, the Task Manager is actually open behind that screen and I can just press Arrow Key Down once and then Delete to nuke the GRW process. Up until I realized that, I was restarting my computer 7/10 times after I tried to access the skill menu.
Other than that, my only issue is how poorly this game runs on Radeon Graphics setups. I don't know if that's ATI's fault or Ubisoft, but I can run other graphics intensive games like GTA:V on ultra high settings with very little issues. I have to run GRW on low settings, with no added glamour from Radeon Settings or in game options (all are set to OFF). Also, crossfire might be supported, but it doesn't seem like it's being utilized in GRW. The only thing enabling crossfire does for me, is removes the nasty artifacting / flickering that occurs when it's disabled. So I'm forced to use it. And there's nothing wrong with my cards, by the way. I've tested them on multiple benchmarking programs to make sure. I've spent almost as much time trying to get this game to run properly, and reloading from crashes, as I have spent actually playing the game. I'm really disappointed that I purchased the season pass because, at this rate, I'll have lost my patience with GRW long before the DLC is released.
-assmilk out.
I played for a few hours tonight while completely avoiding the skill menu. No crashes occurred.
However, I did notice a ton of bugs in missions. I played a lot of single player before without many bugs, but being in co-op tonight seemed to bring out the worst. My teammate also had tons of issues, like my player was running outside of every vehicle that I drove.
Also, this whole idea of a "tech support forum" is ridiculous. Thanks for ignoring my thread that I took time to write, ubisoft. I should have torrented this pile of **** game.
Update: My game is crashing every time I try to play; usually about 1-3min into gameplay. This seems to be completely unrelated to the skill menu now, and my game is officially unplayable. I've made sure all of my drivers are up to date, and spent even more time refining / experimenting with my video settings to try and get this crashing to stop, to no avail.
I've been reading through other threads and I see that there are several other people complaining of consistent game crashing, so I'm going to start ANOTHER thread to specifically address this issue and try to get people to report their crashing games also.
Ubisoft, WTF?
I had the same issue. They haven't even replied to any threads that report this problem. I had to get a refund because it made the game unplayable.
Hi all!
We would first advise this guide on troubleshooting steps that may be of assistance in rooting out the cause of these problems and fix them.
