    Bolvian verbal comments

    Good afternoon,

I have played wildlands for about 3 days. I have wanted to play this game along with the division. Now in general I have liked both games but with wildlands I have a really serious problem.

The verbal comments of the people in the game are not even close to the bolivian country/culture/community. They sound more like mexican comments than bolivian. I live in Lima, Peru which is as you know a neighbor of Bolivia. In fact, Bolivia was part of Peru for a very long time. Please see to correct this mistake. Please understand that this could be considered a raisest issue. Which could be a extremely big problem for the company.

    Thank you.

I noticed that as well, being Spanish my native language. It's like they didn't hire a linguistics or regionalism expert. I think they just assumed that every Spanish speaking country sound like Mexicans.

As for correcting anything, I think it's a bit too late for that...

What is wrong about it? What does one mean that comments sound more Mexican then Bolivian? (To me that sounds like a racist comment) This is about a Mexican cartel invading a country, maybe they wore off on the people, maybe in the this FICTION world, this is how they talk?

Are you sure you arent from the western US, because this is the kinda stuff they cry about.

He means that the way people speak and the phrases in the dialogs are Mexican and not Bolivian, as it was "supposed" to be, since the game story develops in Bolivia...

I totally agree. But their reasoning or excuse is that this is a Mexican cartel in Bolivia. I think this is partially to cover themselves for unrealistic idioms and slang used in the game. I also agree that this really culturally insensitive and borderline racism as it lumps all Latinos in the same boat. Some of the voice actors also have a "North Americano"(Not referring to the Ghosts" voice acting) accent to their Spanish, like a former Bolivian president! It would be like making a game that took place in California and everyone had a deep southern accent. It is also sad when you consider that this developer is "international."

Just imagine if everyone from the West Coast sounded like they were from Alabama or Arkansas in the 1950s in a fictional game to get what he means.

It's not racist to say that the dialects spoken in game are not as they should be. Spanish is also my mother tongue, and the dialect and accents in-game do not represent Bolivia. I understand that the cartel is of Mexican origin and that many of the buchons and underbosses are Mexican. However, to say that every sicario is Mexican is foolish. The cartels are known to employ indigenous people. I think it might be too late to alter the dialogue, but for future reference please hire a linguist from the country that is being portrayed so that you can get it right.
