Hello,
As all of you know parry can be easly performed with high rewards (pretty good stamina loss to the opponent and a guaranteed guard break if distance allow that), so if possible make a new implementation of the parry that is harder to performe like deflect is (I don't use it much but I find it hard to performe).
I would like to hear your opinion about this.
Thanks.
On the other hand, the current parry mechanic is needed to beat bots.
Imo, heavy strikes need to be punishable with return damage. It is an important lesson to be learned, that heavy strikes should only be used, if they are a hit. Otherwise, people would simply stack chip damage on gear and start damage races.
Light attacks wherever, should not be parryable at all. That's what blocking is there for.
I think it is ok that heavy strikes have the current tine window.Originally Posted by Crims0n_Sky Go to original post
They are high risk - high reward. You only go for heavy strikes, if you are sure, it hits. Making heavy strikes harder to parry, would make parry a useless tool.
Heavies should not be the standard attack outside of a punish.
Parry I think can deal damage but it should at least be much less. The problem is that it is much easier to land a parry or GB than it is to land a heavy attack, while both a parry and a GB are worth a heavy attack's damage or potentially more with a throw in addition to the stamina damage a parry deals.
I think if GB and parry were worth a light attack's amount of damage and there was a second check to guard against a throw then parry and GB would be fine because the reward would approximately equal the effort put forth.
