How do you "sell out" of something digital?

I went to GRN today to pick up one of the patch/booster packs, only to see a message that the Special Ops Pack for PC is sold out. Sold out? Seriously, Ubi? This is a 100% digital patch and booster pack - you don't "sell out" of them; there are no limits to how many there can be. This is not some pay-to-win weapon or upgrade for PvP that you might justify selling in limited quantity, it's a freaking booster pack for a single player/co-op game that has no effect other than to help gain exp a bit quicker! "Selling out" of that? Are you trying to piss off your customers here?

I agree completely! Had I known that this was limited in quantity, I would have grabbed it a long time ago, but nowhere on the site is this mentioned. Please add more "stock" so us hardcore GRW fans can complete our patch collection!

You can set a limit on digital content in order to make it limited or special. Also there are time based digtal content. On top of all this there is also any country/state laws which have to be abode by which can put limitations on certain content licenses also. Just because something is "digital" doesn't mean that it has an endless supply.

If I sell 5000 digital keys to some 3rd party, and they sell those keys, they are soled out. When they ask for more, and I smell profit, I say no, in the hope those players will buy it from me (Uplay). That simple. Business, mate.

    This.

But ... don't worry ... Ubi is like every other gaming company out there. Basically they make something "limited" to draw in their initial customers ... the elitist crowd who thinks they are somehow special because they have some cosmetic item that some other players don't ... then the community will ask for access to that item and they will give it, making the elitists cry, moan and complain, but making the larger population happy in the process.

As someone else said above ... simply business

I, for one, did manage ot get hold of that patch, but if they make it available in unlimited quantity, then I definitely will support that and actually be happy for the player base (I am not an elitist after all)
