Simply make unblockables cost more Stamina. That would fix the conqueror shield bash spam, the wardens shoulder bash spam, the lawbringers unblockable spam, the warlords headbutt spam, the valkyries sweep and charge spam, and make the whole game a much more intense and rewarding game to play. More challenge and more balance so that this game would be more based on skill rather than who can spam the most.
with this i completely agree, people have an obsessive need to spam these abilities just to cheese themselves to a win because they feel its a viable strategy.
until this is balanced out or so i know i wont be picking this game back up anytime soon lol, that all on top of the P2P is giving me cancer.
the things you are all calling spam attack are nothing else than what every heros are intended to be doing. So it wont happen it wont change !The only thing you will see in the future is very little nerf or buff related to game bugs.

I play since closed beta and i am still learning.Of course some class are very hard to fight but everything can be countered or on some other way there is move that can't be avoid in some situation.
Ex : if you choose to dodge you might be hit by a free guardbreak.Some hero will have a free guard break after parry .etc ...Also if you try to guardbreak someone who is constantly ''spamming'' ZA or LA.Who is the fool ? you or him ?
What character do you use? You see certain things work better against certain characters. Which shouldnt be true at all. All characters should be balanced, regardless i am a vet, played since closed beta the only counter to most spams is to dodge back but depending on the character spamming that doesnt even work. For instance the warden. He can cancel his charge into a gb, light combo or heavy, but also, if he hits you its a free light or gb AND if he gbs he gets a free heavy. This is a lose lose situation. You have to see how this mechanic drastically dulls down gameplay. I highly doubt they intended the characters with unblockables to all have infinite combos like the berzerker. Especially since berzerker and pk dont have unblockables.
i mained Orochi in both beta .And had some times with the warden.But i dont like heros who don't have a dash attack.On game release i mained Oro until rep 2.Then the good player begin to show up and found myself out of tools with orochi.but that is just me.
i started to main Valkyrie weeks before buff.I am deadly with her ! especially when im in outnumber situation.In the other hand im not that good in duel without gears.I also find very hard to fight against an other valk !It is always one way or the other.Fighting a Warden is real mental gymnastic.Conqueror as well.Pk and Orochi will laugh at my unblockable shield and bash attack by side dodging.The warlord has incredible blocking ability.If i miss my sweep i am ****ed ! i will get destroyed.Good blocker wont allow me to connect those 2 hit i need to follow trough cause it is her main core move set! Player who parry very good will make me think twice before attacking again with a pouncing thrust ! And im not talking about Kensei who will mess with your head !
As you said . Berzerk don't have any unblockable just like every other assasins.They have to rely on their counter and dodging ability.As you say infinite chain is a main core combo of the zerk !
I've said it all now.I've been pouting and whining a lot about the same things you do.But now i understand it is only lack of practice.At first i had really bad time countering guardbreak now i counter 50% .The others 50% mean i am not unbeatable and there will always be situation where there is much you can do.Respawn and do better next time.
There is more to it than that.
Attacking is risky mainly because of what parry gives the defender and defending is safe because it is risk free and offers great reward.
If parry was reworked in the following way, parry would still be good, but not offer free damage and not make attacking so risky.
Parry
First there are some changes and effects for the person being parried (attacker)
1. No stagger after parry, so the person being parried can defend himself from attacks and GB
2. After being parried you cannot dodge backwards or you will fall down.
3. Stamina drain like now
4. attacking and GB disabled for a moment after being parried, so the only option is defence (including CGB)
Then there are some effects for the one doing the parry (defender)
1. The next heavy attack is faster (maybe even the next combo starting with a heavy attack coult be faster and perhaps this heavy attack could chain directly into any combo chain).
2. The next heavy attacks could have increased chip damage, but don't know if this one is needed.
3. The next heavy attack costs no stamina.
4. The next heavy attack may inflict stun if it connects,
5. No options for light attacks, I know, but heavy attacks could get a bit of love through parry.
6. Several options for rewarding parry without, disabling the other person.
With this parry system in place, we could see some quick exchanges of parry back and forth, that would keep the combat going with no pause after a parry, but instead a feeling of urgency as parries speed up the action and change timings instead of breaking up the action.
Blocking
That leaves us with the more basic part of defence - blocking.
We have two tiers of attacks - light and heavy.
To match that two tiers of block would work very well - half and full block.
Half block
Getting to half block happends instantly when you switch guard. Half block allows you to completely block light attacks. From half block you can only parry heavy attacks. Heavy attacks hitting half block may do full or reduced damage. that's balancing.
Full block
as soon as you enter half block, the direction meter begins to fill up and after a number of frames it is full and you are in full block. When in full block you can block heavy attacks. The number of frames it takes to reach full block can vary from character to character, to give more balance options. The quick characters who are good at dodging may need a few more frames to reach full block.
For this to work, heavy attacks must be balanced in terms of speed across the board. they don't have to be the same, but must land within an acceptable range for balance to feel right.
A different approach to half and full block
Each attack in the game could also be given an attack powe, balanced with the speed of the attack. When blocking characters would build up block power over the frames after entering full block. When an attack and a block collides, the block power and the attack power is compared to calculate damage. My suggestion is that there is a cut off point, so if you don't have at least half the block power relative to the attack power, the attack does full damage. After that damage is gradually reduced, until half damage. If you match the attack power, the attack will do no damage at all. Sounds complicated, but really is a simple principle.Just a second idea for how to approach blocking, that doesn't have to change the characters.
Enough with the whole "get good" argument. My kd with warlord is an average of 2.24, i parry very frequently and can cgb very easily. You can seriously sit there and say theres no problem with spamming a move that cant be countered. Wardens arent mental gymnasts they all do the same charge gb charge light combo, and you know why? Because it works. It works too often and too well. I challenge you to play as a warlord and attempt to stop a good wardens charge spam. It cannot be done. Why? Because they can use this attack over and over and over.
To add to my argument i have a rep1 warden whos kd is 4.65 Can you guess what i use to win? Charge spam.
Yes. Im complaining about the very mechanic i used but you have to see how thats a problem. I never looked at any tutorial videos for warden, dont even know how to do his unblockable top light combo. I have 0% skill with him. Yet i rarely lose. Go ahead pick up the warden and try it. Youll see what im talking about.

FOR SURE the characters you play have a faster recovery time than 2 handed characters and ABSOLUTELY switch guard stance faster than 2 handed characters(seems you are unaware of other game imbalances making this stun spam even worse?; 3-4 guard switches per second compared to 12-14 per second is NOT BALANCED). Play Nobushi; get hit with one stun and your dead. Stun, hit, recovery mode; cant switch guard stance or move, stun, hit, recovery mode,.... till your dead.
Go play Nobushi or Raider for a week and then come back and spout this get good BS. YOU WONT; because you'll realize the game is f**king broken and needs a huge balancing act.

Learn the mechanics of the game and why people are saying what they are(saying the game balance is fubar with validity no less.)

First of all i didnt call anyone on git guts or get good. Second i almost never played with the warden,I didnt like his shoulder charge at first , i tought there was no good use to it.Since i began to get *** whiped by endless vortex mixed up with guardbreak as well.
You know why i stopped playing Oro ? because i could not beat any Nobushi. She can cancel any dodge or dash attempt with light attack.
Any how i suggest you to cool down after being trashed in-game before coming to a forum and call out people like you do.
The game is not balanced ! it is like going to a bar brawl and asking every one to be same level to match anybody else.How do you want your game balanced with a Viking a knight and samurai ?!?!?
If you think this game will be your way or the highway.You should stop playing cause it wont happen !
