    Wireless controler causes crash (PC)

I've been playing on the PC version since it came out, my son has taken an interest but only wants to play using a wireless controller, The game won't run with the tiny USB transmitter plugged in and plugging it in after the game is loaded causes it to lock up.
The first time we tried it it worked for a short time and then the game crashed and would not load again so I had to verify the files which caused it to reinstalled Direct X files and then the game worked flawlessly. Is this a known bug? is there a fix?

Is his PC the same as yours or is he playing on your PC?

At any rate, have you tried playing any other game with the wireless controller? Perhaps the controller needs updated drivers?

Have you check under Device Manager to see if there are any conflicts?

Sorry, perhaps more questions than answers... hopefully someone with more experience with controllers will chime in soon.

Got it working, there are 4 channels with 2 for the PC, i.e Xinput for Win 7/8/10 and Dinput mode, it wont work with Xinput as you would expect but it seemingly works with Dinput, The handset is supposed to auto select and it selected Xinput every time, I altered it to Dinput and so far all is o.k..

. If I turn off the handset the game will instantly crash, leaving the USB receiver in when playing keyboard only will not load the game

To me controllers on PC for a shooter game are as useful as tits on a bull but I am glad you were able to figure it out. Now you and your kid can enjoy the game!

I agree, I tried it and hated it, however I did notice that the steering on cars was better on tight corners but other than that I prefer my keyboard
