NO COMMENT ALLOWED!
this game is pay2win once you reach prestige 3 with a class. You can buy tons of items to boost your gear to 108, which in fact gives advantages.
without buying crates, it takes you up to prestige 6-9 to get your gear at a lvl of 108. I only assume that because I have seen prestiges that level who were at item lvl 80-90 only.
the advantages you get for higher gear stats?
you cant be one hit kill with your only last hp bar, which regenrates after no taking damage for like 3-5 seconds, dont know exactly. if you can not heavy hit one bar you can just retreat and wait for it to regen. you will not be executed that easy because of that, and even if you die, your mates could revive you.
high lvl gear always has advantages to no level gear. nothing you can do about if you are not prestige 3.
I for myself have lost a lot of "1vs1" situations in deathmatch because the enemy had gear advantage.
Not only he has to turtle to get his revenge mode easy, as I stated above I was about to kill, lets say, oroshi while he has 1 last bar and I sucesfully guardbroke him followed by a heavy to execute, nope...no execute. defense stat boost helps him. he rolls backwards and thats it, waiting for regeneration out of range.
Enemies with high lvl gear tend to kill me with 1-2 less hits than enemies with no gear
All of these are purchasable with in-game money which you are always rewarded with, no matter how well you do or if you win. Only the amount somewhat changes, but you do get steel. You don't have to take a single unit of real world currency to obtain any of the things you listed.Originally Posted by KelMartigan Go to original post
Unless you have a totally different definition of the term, this does not make the game pay to win, because you don't actually unlock a benefit over your fellow players with by external means. Everyone in this game has access to steel, so everyone in this game has access to the items - be they cosmetical or with gear stats. The only thing that differentiates is dedication, time and skill to obtain it.
Not pay to win.
Yes, some might argue over that.Originally Posted by SerJobsalot Go to original post
I say its a hidden pay2win mechanic, at least in the early stages of the game. reach prestige 3 within a few days and pay for a hugh advatange bonus.
you either play weeks to archieve what others get immediately if they pay. Its more time investment or money investment...yet, there IS a disadvantage.
Anyways, I dont like it. Imagine you want to try out a new character and level him up to prestige 3. In that time, you get bashed by higher geared people several times. a competitive game should be equal for beginners and people who played alot already alike. (not talking abou game experience, just with the items in mind)
Rep 5 PK here with 108 Gear. Actually hit 108 early in rep 4 really early I think. Already working on some second loadout pieces like throw distance and feat cooldown just for fun.
Between the tutorials and story mode, you get ALOT of steel to start out. Its tempting to spend it, but if youre smart you save for rep 3. Same goes for when you hit rep 1 with your character. Its tempting to buy loot boxes to get that blue gear, but its really not worth it to much. SAVE SAVE SAVE. You can easily, EASILY get 108 by rep 4 without spending a single dollar on this game.
People who purchase item packs with real money because they are impatient or don't want to expose themselves to the risk of losing a lot on the way to their prestige ranks don't suddenly become invincible over night. They will most certainly remain as bad players with little skill unless they are miracle talents. Of course there are currently still balancing issues with the gear and all that but not to the point where you cannot beat them. Gear stats and revenge is not everything. I have had people beat with much higher gear values than mine, sometimes even two on one. You still can't buy skill nor can you immediately buy prestige ranks with in-game currency and also not with real world money.Originally Posted by KelMartigan Go to original post
You might not like that this is being offered but ultimately you are always better off working for your results. Because you are much more likely getting a better player along the way in which case the gear stats of your opponents start mattering less. Especially when you reach the territory of affordable high-level gear yourself at some point.
But I digress. It is imo still not pay to win. A lot of people also forget or don't realize that For Honor is a game that demands time and dedication for skill which then earns you results. It is not a quick play for in between, not if you want to see the glorious side of its mechanics.
Not to mention that you have game modes where gear stats are not even all that important or are outright disabled.
I stand by it, it's not pay to win.
