The MK249 is described as having an "M4 Lower" and if I had to guess, it uses 5.56 ammunition. It is shorter, and more compact overall in comparison to the Stoner LMG A1.

But why is it that the Stoner can get a suppressor, but the MK249, or even the Type 95, cannot?

The other LMGs i could see an argument for, in regards to balance and weapon systems and the like, but it just seems odd that there's so much specific favor to the stoner.

the other half is also to address how in promotional art, I have seen the Stoner Nomad is using, and it has an EXPS3 and a G3, but that is not equippable in game?

also the Elcan Spectre DR (referred to in game as the digital scope) was designed for support gunner roles, and yet it cannot be equipped to ANY LMGs???

I just want to further customize my weapons, and have more choices for LMGs rather than be forced into the Stoner simply because its "the only one with a suppressor"
