The reason why Wildlands is running so poorly.

I have been experiencing issue's with the game's performance since day one of the launch. I decided to do some digging and came up with something interesting that might explain why the performance is so bad. I have tested this with the RX 470 since that's the only GPU I have on hand currently. I am running a i7 4790K @ 4.5 and 16GB 1866MHz DDR3 RAM

For some reason, GR: Wildlands is not utilizing the graphics card's power at all. Below are a couple of examples I have measured within the game. I have also tested the same on 6 other games.

    Gigabyte RX 470 G1 Gaming 8G (1360 mhz clock, 1700 mhz mem)
GR: Wildlands: average wattage pulled was 66 watts. peak temperature was 64 degrees celcius.
Battlefield 1: average wattage pulled was 105.4 watts. peak temperature was 73.8 degrees celcius.
Far Cry Primal: average wattage pulled was 107.3 watts. peak temperature was 74.2 degrees celcius.
Rise of the Tomb Raider: average wattage pulled was 104.9 watts. peak temperature was 73.4 degrees celcius.
Assassin's Creed Syndicate: average wattage pulled was 106 watts. peak temperature was 74 degrees celcius.
Tom Clancy's The Division: average wattage pulled was 105 watts. peak temperature was 73.6 degrees celcius.
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege: average wattage pulled was 101.6 watts. peak temperature was 72.7 degrees celcius.

See the pattern here? The only game that was ever below 100 wattage pulled was Wildlands. Also my GPU has never been this cool in any other game played ever. All tests have been conducted under a 22 degree celcius ambient temperature.

I think there is something seriously wrong with this game at the moment.

The reason your GPU and (to lesser extent) your CPU aren't being utilized properly is because of streaming issues. So basically, your HD is the bottleneck because the engine is streaming all the time. It's been reported a few times, and it became worse after 1.1.5 patch, but so far no fix from Ubi just yet.

When you mention "streaming" is the cause of Hd allways 100%? Is that right?

Yes, this game puts a huge strain on the HD.

True, I can cofirm things are going worst after patch. It takes so much time to load terrain textures and models. Some times I respawn on a location without enemies until suddenly I'm surrounded by enemies. One time even my weapong wasnt loaded untile some minutes after start playing, causing me to see my empty hands when I aim my weapon and unable to shoot....

Wrong, considering I moved uplay launcher and the game to my M.2 drive. A HD bottlenecking would cause stutters and momentary freezes when the game is saving and/or loading textures. This isn't the case. My GPU is just not being used resulting in poor framerate.

What makes you think I haven't? Mine is on an nvme SSD (Samsung 951) and the usage (see task manager) is absolutely insane. Several people have already confirmed this (with proof, so don't ramble about people being wrong).

Of course there's always the possibilty that you have a different issue, but streaming is the first place to look after the 1.1.5 update. It's absolutely abysmal.

The reason your GPU/CPU are not being utilized properly is because the game is stalling/bottlenecking elsewhere, think about about where that is.

    mine is on a SSD.

my Fury-X card is hardly getting warm . . . not checked any temps or utilisation, tho. . .

not really noticed "poorly" running performance, but do get occasional, random stuttering and, a couple times, some severe stop-start freezing that usually ends up totally de-syncing the game to the point where it soft-crashes the entire computer and i have to force a hard-reboot.

    +1

Before the patch I had absolutely no problems with texture pop and after it's happening everywhere regardless of settings. And micro-stuttering is much more noticable.

Seriously Ubi you guys need to address this!
