My best D3-FNC build so far...

So I decided to blow the dust off my D3-FNC build which has been getting rusty & dusty since 1.6 dropped. Found a nice new SMG which i thought would change it up a little and have adjusted it to suit. So far I have been able to take an absolute pounding in Legendary missions, and am unkillable in The Last Stand so long as im not flanked.

    For the build im using

    Chest - Barrets Bulletproof - 9% EDR, 14.5k hp, 56% ammo
    Mask - D3-FNC - 10% EDR, 10% DTE
    Knees - D3-FNC - 14.5k hp, 13% DTE, 2 random resists...
    BackPack - Resourceful, 12.7k hp, 52% ammo
    Gloves - D3-FNC - +980 SMG dmg, 15% crit dmg, 7% EAD
    Holster - D3-FNC - 8.2k hp

    FA - 4790, STA - 3085 (216k HP, 30% armor) ELC - 6752. 246k dps, 312k toughness, 229k skill power.

So I havent gone for reload speed on my holster due to having an SMG with

MP5 ST - Hurried, Deadly, Fierce. Its modded for max crit chance and Crit dmg, sitting at 35.5% crit chance, and 98% crit dmg, with a 1sec reload due to hurried.

I am running 2 +7% hp mods and 2 +5% dmg mitigation mods for the shield. Using the Reactive Targeting shiedl (i know the mod wont work, but the HP is much higher on this shield), im sitting at about 2.4mil HP on it with +20% dmg reduction.

With this build any PVE content can not kill you. Period. The only way you die is if you get yourself into a bad spot and get surrounded. The Last Stand is also funny as people cant shoot you from the front, and seekrs dont hurt so bad if they hit the shield, or even if they hit me, the 19% EDR helps alot. Sitting at 246k dps with the SMG, and the reload makes that even better, as the dps listing doesnt take into account the 1 sec reload due to hurried.

With 3 DPS/sniper guys, most legendary mission are now pretty easy, as I just draw all the agro and they do all the heavy lifting. Playing smart with what and who you draw, Ive been able to do legendarys pretty easily with even half decent random PUGS.

If you had a defense build and thought 1.6 killed it, try it this way, its a hell of a lot of fun again.

Anyone else run a shield build recently? I havent really seen any after the 1.6 drop and every one thought they nerfed it to hard.

I have one but currently I do not play it. It is not due to that it get nerfed - I don't thing so - but becouse I do not like that gameplay too much as there are annoying shiled deploy/undeploy animations just becouse you stop running, interacting objects and so.

I was use MP5 (responsive, destructive, fierce) on PTS with it with 4x4% DMG mods, specialized backpack and barrets or reckless chest. I can walk thru challenging missions. I do not play incursions or even legendary missions as I'm not interested with that content.

I see many shiedls in Last Stand, so it is played often, but in LS you will get outplayed very quickly or players with very good aim will aim at your arms, legs even front of you, they play around shield.

For me D3-FNC is funny set to use it sometimes to use something more "unique".

Thanks for the tip. I did some adjustments to Defence build after 1.6 hit, but it is not as durable as before. But I met a guy when doing HVTs/daily missions who was pretty OK ... He told me he uses resourceful backpack and Sustained talent on SMG. Speccing a lot into crits and firearms, plus Damage mods for shield, he was able to keep himself and shield at good health. I am tempted to try it one day.

I have found that trying to use healing on kill/crits skills to heal my shield is all but pointless. The shield just has way to much HP for any of this to be even remotely helpful.

Like Sustained, does 3% hp of your crit hit dmg as healing. With my SMG i crit for about 35k to the body of an ellite, 50ishk to the head. So a 50k crit headshot heals for 1500hp, with resourceful thats 1500hp heal for my shield, which has 2,450,000 hp. Even my heal skill which does 190k hp, is sill such a minimal amount I can not even see the shield HP bar move when I pop it. I have found the fastest way to heal your shield is just break line of sight, get behind something tall which covers you (not lock onto cover, just stand behind it) and let the shield master skill heal it, as it seems to be % based of the HP, and heals the same amount in the HP bar no matter how much HP your shield has.

I still have a resourceful backpack myself, but I havent found anything more useful or with better rolls yet. Maybe the one which adds firearms and stam together onto skill power would help a little more, as more free skillpower is always good for a shield user.

Resourceful backpack and Sustained talent on SMG would be the best option.
