How to make Dominion Match more enjoyable and meaningful!

    Greetings,

I love the game, but sometimes it does feel my goals within the matches somewhat 'empty' or missing.

Whenever I see the words "Invaders" and "Defenders" in matchmaking sessions, it feels like i'm invading a castle, or defending my throne room.

Don't want to exaggerate, But I do have my own suggestion on how to make dominion matches (or perhaps other matches too) more enjoyable with meaningful goals.

Dominion is about capturing certain points of land/area and upholding it, but for what? The enemy invaders are still hammering on the door regardless if I hold my ground 300 meters away from the siege (in this case, the Citadel map). Or while i'm invading, why do I want to hold a far away area from the siege, I need to defend the siege weapon similar to what the single player campaign did with defending the siege. See where I'm going here?

My suggestion is that, for The Citadel map (and that goes for all maps):

    Invaders:
    -
    • This will be based on 3 (or more) stages of invading the citadel.
    • - The invaders would want to hold the siege and try to retake the outside area while the siege breaks the doors down.
    • - Invaders would then try to retake the court area, while the players can have a co-ordinated attack in trying to find a way inside, whether trying to climb inside and opening the door, or breaking the door with other means. Or perhaps a wall for that matter.
    • - They would then have a fight inside the throne room (or whichever area feels more important for the citadel that commands the whole land).

Then, the invaders win if they achieve this.

    Defenders

The defenders would have it either way of winning.

    By either:

    1) they defend the land/area for the duration of a specific time (where after that time, reinforcements come in and save the day! or something meaningful to the lore).
    2) They try to destroy the first outside siege, or the second inside siege. And if inside the throne room, they can defend it until time runs out, or kill X amount of commanders for the soldier to try to flee back.

These ideas were taken from the single player campaign where you go in and try to fight Apollyon within the castle, it really felt i'm in a war and trying to defend my cause/land/people etc.

    EDIT:

Or perhaps for the 3 level stages, in order to be granted to the second stage, Don't do the capturing points.

So instead, for invaders, to invade the courtyard, they need to capture the outside area for specific points to be reached, then the doors be opened (and the siege would be there for the effects that the doors are broken down).

Then after capturing the the courtyard, same thing for the points to be reached until the throne room and so forth.

    As for defenders:

same principals here, try to re-capture those areas to push back the invaders, each area captured, the invaders are pushed back to the previous stages. And once the invaders reached back to the outside area, the defenders can capture that and end the match, or if time runs out in favor to the defenders.

I was willing someone to take this as a new game mode for the upcoming dev stream warrior's den livestream.

Anyone got any comments to this? Would love to have it!

This is just straight taken from Chivalry. Maybe I should just go play Chivarly... However yes. Current game modes are stale and dull beyond belief.

I think suggestions like this would only be in an FH2, good as they are

I honestly never played Chivalry, and in that case, must buy it and try it!

The concept was taken from a game called Orcs Must Die 2. and the 3 stages of capture was sort of taken from the base game For Honor single player campaign (knight storymode), where you fight the hordes of the soldiers in the courtyard.

I think Dominion in general would need a little overwork like adding barchers, more minions across the map and captains depending on the zones that are captured to give them more weight and make all more dynamic and chaotic

But this should be a whole game mode with more stages like ram protection, gate defense and castle capturing!

Glad to hear that also other players demand such things.

I don't mean to revive an old thread but, I want to congratulate the devs for this!

I truly admire Ubisoft for their bold approach to any of their games. No one thought they'd implement this kind of game mode, its exactly what I wanted.

I feel proud to be part of this game.

    Thank you devs for this!

Funnily enough, this suggestion was almost exactly what I suggested to them aaaallll the way back in the Beta Suggestions. Albeit I went into a bit more detail, and what they recently revealed was almost pin-point accurate to what I suggested.
