Hi everyone,
I'm really confused by what I read here.
Is this a PVE or PVP game?
I understand that the DZ is a free for all, per se.
Are the subways also a "free for all" too or not?
Some people are saying "Patch 1.6" busted this game.......others "It brought more stability to it."
Can someone logically and briefly express what the heck is going on here?
I want to buy the game but and bizarred out by what I'm reading here.
Thank you kindly for your time,
Stefos
P.S. Maybe someone should sticky this as a "How this game basically works in real terms"
I'm tired at reading piecemeal posts here in the General Discussion forum.
I need solid answers as my money is potentially going toward this game.
The game is entirely PvE, except Last Stand, which is a PvP game mode that offers PvE, but it's nothing worthwhile, and the DZ is PvE, but you have the chance of running into other players and them actually shooting you. So, yeah, free for all is kind of the right term.
Underground is PvE
Survival offers both a PvP mode and a PvE mode, but you're not playing in a match by yourself in PvE. So, technically it's PvP, since you are competing against other players.. for Survival caches, that is. If you're not worried about those, Survival's PvE mode is entirely PvE.
Again, Last Stand brings a PvP mode, but it also brings a new Incursion (PvE)
Being that you are just "starting" with 1.6, if you buy the game, no, you will not know or understand the changes that we went through, so they really wont effect you.
It's both a pvp and pve game, depending on where you want to play. Yes the DZ is a free for all, but you dont really have to go into it if you don't like pvp.
Should you buy the game, IMO.....I cant really say, I just don't see the game having any lasting impact. There isn't any new content coming in "year 2" so maybe if you can get it relatively cheap, go ahead and get it I guess.
Its enjoyable to level up to 30 and progress through the story, but it will probably leave you wanting more.
Once you hit level 30, that's when you'll be able to do the higher end content and put a specific build/builds together.
As a beta, and day one gold edition player, I went on the roller coaster ride for a year, with the changes that we went through, it left me and probably the majority a bit salty.
The dlc's replay ability is limited in my view and you will play them for a while and eventually get bored.
In the end, I don't feel like I got my monies worth, content wise, but im not here to rant.....
I can only speak for myself, but I would recommend it 100%.Originally Posted by stefos1 Go to original post
If you are picking it up cheap second hand it'll be a fantastic investment, and even full retail you do get a lot of content.
There are some players who have thousands of hours in this game.
As far as PvE and PvP it is both.
The main story campaign.which sees you level your character up, finding new gear, new weapons, getting stronger and stronger, as you build up your Base of Operatons (like a hub), is excellently paced and very rewarding...so much so that many people rerun it multiple times.
The environment of NYC they have built is quite simply incredible and you'll marvel at times just how detailer and beautifully stark it all is.
There is an area of the city that wall quarantined and that is the Dark Zone (DZ).
Here, and only here, is where you come up against other players in PvP.
It isn't a perfect system and there are some issues, but unlike the main play area to get loot out you must call an extraction in, which is a helicopter, that will hover over a predetermined area that you fire a flare from, and then you place your loot onto a rope hanging from the helicopter.
It is a great, atmospheric pressure cooker at first as you don't know who to trust, as any player can attack unannounced and steal your loot.
But you'll figure all that out and like all of us it'll be trial and error.
There is crafting and gear sets, but again you will pick all that up as you go when you need to.
So in my opinion you should 100% go for it.
Its not perfect, and you'll get some negative feedback no doubt, but I think it's a masterpiece let down by some issue as opposed to a pile of trash saved by a few great moments.
Go for it...and if you are on ps4 friend request me.
[QUOTE=stefos1;12456047]Hi killer 5x5,
So, If patch 1.7 comes out and balances the so-called "mess" created by 1.6, Would it be worth it?
I'm asking because I like what The Division offers in terms of environment.
Only Day Z really comes close to this kind of game.
The issue with the next patch, is the same thing that we have been going through with all the previous ones, it never really "fixes" anything, just makes new problems for itself and creates a new meta, which just takes over from the old one.
They have never been able to probably balance anything IMO, without breaking or hurting something else. Its just a constant circle, so we don't know what the future holds.
Hi RhinoCharging,
As far as I'm concerned, your post is the post a friend would write.
I'll be getting this game for the PC......If you're there on the PC as well, yes I know it costs money for this game, let me know.
Thank you for spending time breaking it down for me to comprehend.
I wonder why a clear post like yours is not stickied????????????? It should be.
Thank you,
Stefos
Things were nerfed, unfortunately, but like Killer said, it won't affect you much since you'll be buying into 1.6 and aren't aware of what things were like before the nerfs. You'll have the best experience the game has to offer with levels 1-30, though, but after that, it's grinding time. You should be okay, though, as there are many ways of getting loot, even without the DLC.Originally Posted by stefos1 Go to original post
You might run into Airburst seekers in the DZ, if you do not plan to buy Last Stand because they are there also. Also, as one thing I don't have a problem with: Nimble holsters might be another thing that may surprise you, but that's if you plan to PVP. ...Also, you might hate the Rogue system. Again, these are PVP things that are currently annoying.
