I'm sure that the armor that is worn by the Kensei, Shugoki, and Orochi is made of wood. Would it be too much to ask that at some point, the designers could change it to steel or iron? Historically, Samurai never wore wooden armor. Japanese soldiers did, but never the Samurai class warriors. I mean, come on. The Lawbringer wears full plate and chain mail, but we get wood and hide? I guess it's better than the bare skin of the Vikings, but still...

its not historically accurate and the kensei and orochi have metal helmets. the biggest problem with armor is the vikings used mail armor

If the Samurai have the weakest armor (and they do since it's wood), then they should be the fastest. (And they're not. Wardens are faster than Kensei.) Can't say that the ornaments are the worst. Sure, a lot look stupid, but I'd rather have two sea turtles than a eagle.
