Why do some attachments work for a few Assault rifles/SMGs, but not other?

I picked up a Compensator and it only works on a few Assault rifles, and I see like 10 other Compensators across the map.

Am I missing something?

From what I can tell, parts are distributed across weapon types in pieces. They don't tell you the specific gun the piece will work for, only that it'll work for that tier of weapon (Assault Rifle/Sub comp but not ALL ARs and Subs). As far as I can tell....

A lot of them are specific to certain types of guns.

It's not very clear but it does list some specifics on the upgrade in small font.

It will say in big bold letters "Magazine Assault Rifle" and then smaller font "Extended Mag (50)"

And then in little tiny font it will say something like "7.62 x 39mm"

So the extended mag will only unlock for assault rifles that fire this type of ammunition.

There will be other weapon parts that unlock "Extended Mag" for other assault rifles that use other ammunition.

I assume they did this to make it harder for us to collect all the gun parts.

Are there any other attachments for sidearms other than barrel, mag, and lasers, Which handgun has a optic attachment?
