Why do Ubisoft games have a NAT type restriction?

I bought GRW while I was at home and on spring break from my college. played the game, loved it and looked foward to continue my progression with my friends online. Spring break was over and I was back at my dorm which I am only connected to the internet via wifi. I have never had a problem with other games like battlefield 1, world of tanks, H1Z1 ect. My ping steadily sits around 60-90. I notice that on GRW my NAT type is "strict" I know what that means and I know there really isn't anything I can do to change that unless there is a solution I am unaware of but my question is "why does Ubisoft have this in there games" why am I able to play battlefield flawlessly and have a good internet connection but I cant play any Ubisoft game because of my "NAT."

If there is a viable reason to this could someone inform me because quite frankly I think its total BS that I am no longer able to play this amazing game due one simple issue.

I think it's because the MP portion of the game is P2P and not server based like the games you mentioned.

Its not just UBI, NAT is something that relevant in all routers, this is your router that controls this. For those who dont know what NAT is, its Network Address Translation. Meaning, is a method of remapping one IP address space into another by modifying network address information in Internet Protocol (IP) datagram packet headers while they are in transit across a traffic routing device.

Trust me, this is something that you do on the net each and every day, even when browsing the internet.

Ya NAT type is not a game specific thing, your NAT type is something that comes from your router and ISP not what game you play on xbox. While there does seem to be some correlation between NAT type and it conflicting with Ubisoft server connection it is not something Ubisoft can fix from your routers end.

I know what NAT type is and it involves your router but every game that I play that is not a Ubi game says I have an open NAT type but every time I play a Ubi game it says it is strict.

You need to add the Uplay Launcher and possibly the game to your Windows firewall, Inbound and Outbound rules.
