I am sure that this topic has been discussed, but there are some things about the stealth game play that really need to be fixed. Maybe this is only on Extreme difficulty, but the enemy AI always seem to know your general location and it seriously lessens the enjoyment of stealth based gameplay.
1. Call in any type of mortar strike or diversion using your drone at 3x magnification, from 300 meters away, up the side of a mountain, behind a massive boulder, hidden in a bush, and in the prone position. Enemies die. Base goes on alert. After a few moments, your AI teammates will say that we have been spotted. You hear enemy radio chatter say "Rush them!...and here they come. Reinforcements roll in and immediately start moving towards your exact position. Your AI teammate will say, "They are coming right for us, what do you want to do?" Come on, really? I called in the strike. I could have been ANYWHERE. Why are they zoning right to my position?
2. So I do all of the above and as soon as I call in support, I re-position. Interestingly, the enemy come to my NEW location. Hmmm...fascinating.
3. So I do all of the above, but instead, I leave an anti-personnel mine at my original position before re-positioning. Enemies goes to my original location, somebody steps on mine...and then his surviving buddies start zoning in on my NEW position. If the mine kills everyone, the HUNTED status still doesn't go away and more reinforcements roll in on trucks...and you guessed it, move towards my position. Again.
The same thing happens if you snipe some narco with a silenced sniper rifle from 500 meters away. His buddy finds the body, and the entire base of pissed off narcos and called in reinforcements start moving RIGHT to your sniping position.
From what I can tell, wherever you are at when the enemy is damaged, the AI goes to that exact location. So if I put a mine at my last known location, they will zero in on my new location EVERY TIME a new enemy dies. This makes guerrilla tactics almost impossible because you can't clear the enemies and they keep following you like are leaving breadcrumbs to your new location. I tested how long they would chase me and they continued to do so over a freakin mountain and into another province.
This really needs to be fixed. I still enjoy the game, but this particular issue really does stink when you are trying to advertise the game as "play the way you want."
If it's a base with a mortar they will hit your location with the first shot once alerted snipers find rather quickly as well stealth gameplay needs an overhaul, to say the least. The omniscient AI are a pain, hiding in foliage seems to add little to no benifite to the player in reguards to stealth that should be fixed as well.
It's one of my biggest gripes with this game.
I can play a perfectly stealthy role, and yet the enemy AI can somehow pinpoint me when I'm Hunted, even though I've done something completely inconsequential to giving my position away, like exploding my drone or calling in a mortar?
For a game that prioritizes the stealth role so much, it really tries to undercut that particular role so much.
I have been trying to play this game exactly as I would if it were real life and THIS particular issue is seriously thwarting my attempts to do so.
I mean I am doing "ok". I have 90% Tactical and 80% Stealth Kills...but I am telling you, my Stealth Kills would be at around 95% if I didn't have to fight off these patrols that were magically finding me as if I had a GPS tracker lodged in my anus.
It really does ruin the experience a bit because narrows or completely eliminates a vast number of my engagement and extraction options. It has also been the culprit of the vast majority of my deaths before I picked up on and tested the mechanic. Now I try to employ tactics to keep that from happen, but what I have to do sucks. Basically I have to NOT use any mortar or rebel support and if the base or group of baddies go on alert, I have to relocate and wait until they go off of alert and return to the base. That can take upwards of 5 minutes.
That sucks quite a lot out of the experience, IMHO as I spend a lot of time just sitting and waiting. I guess I am a patient person...but still...
I am still liking the game, but I am desperately hoping that Ubisoft sees this post and does something about it.
I've noticed it off and on, though it seems more prevalent at higher difficulties. I've sniped a narco at less then 100m while hidden and when the others find the body they don't know where I am - on easy difficulty. But at higher difficulties it seems their Hitman-vision kicks in. I'd agree it needs a serious overhaul. When it comes to mortars, there's no way they should know your position as long as you're behind cover or in foliage. With silenced rifle shots, they should pretty much never know your location unless they're looking in your direction when you take a shot - in that case maybe they see a glint off the scope or a muzzle flash, either of which I can buy. But last night I went to a Unidad base at night and sneaked my way into a guard tower. All the soldiers were in the mess hall and I sent one quick shot through the door, then dropped down to the floor. They shouldn't have know where the shot came from, but one guy still made a beeline to the tower. I hope they're working on this.
Made a thread about this and more but all people said was that I was bad and need to git gud. Lol. In sorry we play extreme and not arcade.
Stealth play on extreme difficulty is beyond broken and garbage.
I used a explosive drone from 300m away laying in a ravine behind a rock in the pitch black and yet the enemy knew exactly where I was ha ok.
Then theres also the stupid issues on extreme where you'll be crawling through the grass with a ghillie suit behind a rock and yet some how enemy spot you through all that stuff like they have superman xray vision.
Theres lots of other problems as well. That why as of late I've just been playing this game going loud not bothering trying to go stealth.
Stealth is a clear after thought when developing this game. They want you to cause mayhem and go in guns blazing just cause style
