I do agree that they could add something else to incentivize exploration, but after all of the AC games and their atrocious quantity of collectibles, I actually appreciate what this has to offer. Instead of collectibles, maybe make some of the less used areas some sort of side op that can be repeated for XP or something. Like a small (or large) base and once you eliminate all of the threat, you get some sort of xp bonus. I think that would be decent enough. Or maybe a few supplies, like 150 of each or something. I know it's not much, but with so many other options for resources, I don't think it would be overpowering.
I like the idea of small side missions for XP. They could involve helping locals (not rebels) in trouble, if you happen to come across them.

Example: You find a woman crying and she tells you that the cartel kidnapped her children. If you happen to find where they are being held and rescue them, you get bonus XP.

I would not go as far as to say it is "dead". Given the map size and location, which is primarily rural with small pockets of urban centers. The environment is as expected. There is still quite a bit going on with some needs for additional to mix things it up a bit.

Not even close. I have cleared only the 1st province so far. Still a ton to do.

I did say "feels dead" honestly I'm talking more about the lack of change after "clearing" a province. it would be nice if rebels too outposts and there were visually more people around towns, even just tanking us as we go past. It would make it feel more alive and give a sense of accomplishment. If you understand where I'm coming from here

In real life or in the game?

slow down, turn off your hud, and just explore. No game will ever "give you" a reason to explore. Exploring requires one to have a natural curiosity about something. My buddy and I have pretty much done nothing but explore. We rarely use vehicles for the first few missions we do in a new province, usually opting to walk from place to play to get a feel for the environments. It really is rewarding, you just have to slow down and take a deep breath and realize that the game will always be here and there is no rush to complete everything.

Not to mention the fact that you don't have to gather intel. If you wander into a camp that has a part or a weapon or a mission you haven't discovered from intel, it will still be there. If anything, I'd say that's the exact reason to explore you were looking for. Turn off the minimap or markers (or both), and just explore.Don't grab intel, don't do whatever the game tells you to do, just wander around aimlessly and I promise you'll have a much more enjoyable experience than trying to consume everything as fast as possible.

Got it. In respect to the progressing feeling and clearing provinces.

"The fix", which I have addressed in other threads. Have rebels forces take territory previously occupied but cartel/Unidad and have them fight it out. You could provide support if requested. Once you complete the whole game, you would then have this ongoing struggle (unidad/remaining cartel vs rebels) across a massive map,. You could jump in solo/co-op at anytime. It would perfect endgame content.
