I know I'm not the only one having an issue with this mission and I'm really hoping it is a bug or glitch because if not it is a game ruining experience trying to pass this mission.
For those of you who don't know which mission I'm referring to, it's the final El Pulpo mission where you must "escort" him to the airport. I highlight the word ESCORT because you basically drive flat out behind him as enemies smash their cars into him destroying his vehicle very quickly without much that you can actually do. When his car is damaged too much he basically gets out and starts hitchhiking in the middle of the highway as enemies are already trying to kill him - and he definitely does not rush. I've tried this at least 10 times in both co-op and solo and as a player who's found the rest of the game enjoyable and fairly easy to beat so far, this is just a ridiculous mission that I hope Ubisoft addresses soon.

I gave up yesterday with it. Tried so many things and the final straw was yesterday.
I used an APC, blocked him in his topless suv so he got out, he then went to the escelade looking one, I blocked him again and he got out and went to the hummer looking one. Great! he has some armor now.
Nope.
My ai gunner makes light work of the chasers, but around 200mtrs down the road, his hummer is in perfect shape, not even smoking. He gets out for no reason, moves around in a circle, then crosses the road an hit by a car. Done!......mission is just broken, they have him get in an open top car, then have every enemy in the game it seems go after him, I even seen an enemy truck drive through another car, just ghosted right through it. Closest I got him was to the airport where he stops near the gate, and decides to walk the rest of the way only to get killed by the enemies flooding the place.
I have completed all areas now minus one, and this one mission which I just cannot do. Like you I found the rest of the game fairly simple upto that one misison.
Gave up with it, hopefully it gets patched, give the guy better armor on his car, higher health, or just less enemies after him. Or better yet, let him just get in the players car.

I tried to get onto the same vehicle with himbut he refused to drive... kept doing it for 3 to 4 times then El Pulpo went back to the hideout and didn't move at all... have to kill him to restart the mission. Was lucky to finish this mission the 2nd time when I and the AI team got on the hummer with turret before he got on it

Yes it's a terrible mission just bumped into it myself, thought i had to stop him so i tried mining, blocking the road, chasing after him in and out of several cars. If you let him go , as i found out, suddenly trucks full of bad guys start shooting him and you have zero chance.
O yes shooting him in the toe when he finnaly goes back inside and gives up, kills him ! Toe shooting is instant death apparently .
** EDIT ** Managed it with an APC

This mission is terrible. I've failed it a few times and finally just moved on.

Done it with APC in god knows how many attempts.
I really wish to discuss in person some aspects of game design with a man responsible for this BS. Make him feel our pain and rage as well.

I came across this mission today, on PC. I wish Id never started it. God knows how many tires. Sadly you cant fight stupid. At one point I managed to kill off the enemies and El Pulpo leaves his car, throws a civilian out of his car and El Pulpo gets in. And just sits there.
UPDATE: After few more tries I got him to the ariport, abut I managed to aggro Unidad so they bring a helicopter. I manage to hit the pilot, the helicopter goes down. It lands on El Pulpo.... He dies

It totally sucks on PC version also. I tried to grab Pulpo, it's impossible. I tried to knock him out with a melee blow, it killed him. I tried to "escort" him with an APC and there was total mayhem on the highway. It would be total luck to be able to get him through the carnage.
I give up and hope they fix it.

I finally passed the mission!
I have to say that it was about 30% skill and 70% luck but after about 15 attempts at this mission I got it.
A few tips:
-So before you even attempt this mission you should make sure you have the vehicle armour skill fully maxed out and it also helps to have the vehicle damage dealt to enemy skill maxed as well. This does really help.
-Find yourself a vehicle with a turret on top and drive that vehicle to the mission start point.
-When the voiceover says "ok lets wait for him to come out" you should then jump in the 4WD he tries to get in and just move it out of the way a bit, next he will run over and try to get in the other car, jump in the passenger seat to make him get out and he should finally jump in the 3rd car which is the armoured car. He NEEDS to be in this vehicle for you to even have a chance. Now quickly jump in your own armoured vehicle and prepare to go through hell.
-Use your own vehicle as a blockade and keep between the enemies behind you and El Pulpo. You should be able to take a fair beating now you have your vehicle perks maxed out.
-My luck kicked in when I got to the airport, El Pulpo made a run for the helicopter and I jumped out of my now burning car right at the entry, there was a ton of enemies and I got shot pretty quick but this was actually a good thing, you may have noticed that when you go down and are waiting to be revived any nearby enemies will actually retreat a little bit. This happened for me and actually made all the enemies retreat back outside the airport slightly. It worked perfectly in my case and allowed enough time for El Pulpo to reach the airport without dying. Won't work for everyone but if you get shot at the airport entry with heaps of enemies about it might work out for you too.
I'm sure this mission will get patched as I've played heaps more now and haven't come across anything even remotely as bad as this mission but we will wait and see!

Yes, this mission is poorly designed. And by poorly I mean terribly.
