What is the point of destroying SAM sites if they're just going to respawn. There's this certain mission out of the top left of the map that is a bloody roller coaster of at least 20 sites, many of which thought I had destroyed. Pretty sure this would be a fairly simple thing to fix, please get on it!
I'm convinced the devs don't actually want people flying around. The controls and the proliferation of advanced SAM sites shows they want people traveling on the ground. It's actually easier to just fly a helo straight up for a few minutes and parachute across the landscape than it is to fly the helo to the target.
At this point I wish they had some kind of HALO insertion option like fast travel. We click on it and we end up in a helo or plan at high altitude during the night and jump out over the target. This would be a lot more fun than trying to actually fly around in the game.
I don't have any issues with the sam sites and flying around. I actually found the game way to easy once you unlock the rebel vehicle drop off upgraded to a helicopter. I was able to do missions in less than 3 minutes then just fly out of there though the only issue I have is the seemingly inconsistent helicopter controls.
I am thinking they may have events later on where you can assault a certain base for a weapon or part and if it was already clear it would defeat the purpose.Originally Posted by jmannz33 Go to original post
I hit a Unidad base with an airfield that had 5 SAM sites. I took my time and did my "Recon". Took out all the sites on the way to a side mission on the airfield to steal a plane, got in the plane and 5 SAM sites all locked on to me. Very frustrating.Originally Posted by Ev1lVeggie Go to original post
Also found that if you run out of C4, the HTI sniper rifle will destroy the SAM sites and the Jammers.
The SAM sites have to reset, as do the bases otherwise there is no point in ever going back.
The issue is with how quickly everything resets, once blown up a SAM site should stay wrecked for a few hours at least. Same goes for bases and towns.
The Far Cry games used to have this issue, take out a roadblock, come back 2 mins later and the whole thing is reset.
It would make sense to reoccupy a base after a certain amount of time. Maybe you get 30 minutes before respawn on heavy weapons. That would make more sense than having all the SAMs back just a few minutes later.Originally Posted by jmannz33 Go to original post
It would be cool if we could blow up the convoys carrying the SAMs in order to delay them even more.
