I have a slightly similar experience to matchmaking however it's not against players it's against bots. The game constantly matches me against level 3 bots in PvAI matches. I primarily play the game to relax which is why I primarily play against the AI and not actual players, sometimes if I'm into it I'll create a custom game and populate it with Level 2 bots as that's where I think the limit of my skill is at the game. I honestly don't find the Level 3 bots fun to fight against at all yet keep getting matched with them and it's killing my enthusiasm. =/
