I really love this game. However, I feel like For Honor is at its best when the combat is the main focus. My favorite mode is Duel because there are no power-ups nor projectile-launching feats that I feel significantly take away from the gameplay. But, I also like playing this game with my friends. When we go into Elimination matches together, we are frequently frustrated by opponents who immediately run for power-ups at the beginnings of rounds, and opponents who gain the ability to shoot arrows or mortars. It makes sense strategically to run for power-ups and use projectile feats right away because it can give you a significant advantage, however it takes away from the elaborate skill-based combat system that makes For Honor stand out.
My point is, I think there should be a 3v3 or 4v4 game type added to the game that has no power-ups on the maps and that disables all feats and armor ratings -- essentially, Duel but with more people. I think a lot of players would appreciate a mode like this, which I believe would more effectively play into the strengths of For Honor as a game. And of course people who like power-ups and feats would be free to continue playing normal Elimination as well.
It's not a bad idea at all.
I just generally get nervous about new playlists that are just slightly different than what we have now because there is a chance of spreading the player-base too thin.
I do have to say that I generally dislike the power-ups in elimination. Assassins from the get-go have a ridiculous advantage because they outrun everyone. I can't even tell you how many times I've fought against an assassin and get them to low health but they just turn tail and run to a shield or health booster. Of course since I am the lawbringer I cannot catch up to them. So I basically have to re-fight them again.
Or, as you've stated, they just start our battle off by walking back a couple steps and getting an attack booster -_-.
Maybe they can make getting the boosters take way longer than they currently do. They are retrieved far too fast in my opinion.
Well, Brawl is only 2v2, so you can only play with one friend. When I play alone, I play Duel pretty much exclusively, but when I play with my group of friends, all we can play is Skirmish, Elimination, and Dominion, all of which have power-ups and feats.Originally Posted by FRAKTICA Go to original post
I see your point in having too many similar modes, but perhaps one more wouldn't hurt, especially if it solves what I would consider a problem. However, I have no knowledge of the actual logistics of implementing a game mode like I'm suggesting.
