Question for players - "Hardcore" settings?

For anyone who is trying to make the game more "hardcore" what settings are you using to achieve it? I'm gonna mess around with it this weekend myself, but I'm curious what difficulty and HUD settings make the most satisfying experience for people who like to play more "realistically"

    Thanks!

Ok, if you're playing solo, you need to leave the mini map on if you want to find your way around unless you're really good at memorizing maps. If you're with a tight squad, designate a navigator who will pop his map open when you drive/fly. Turn the entire HUD off, except notifications (for now, because if they're not on, your options during intel gathering won't appear on screen and your guy/girl will just be standing there with their cell phone out).

Having no hud elements makes you communicate with your team. Lets say you are trying to grab an HVT, you and your squad surround the area and have to sit there and deliberate who the HVT may or may not be...etc. Makes everything more slow, deliberate, and realistic.

do you have difficulty all the way up, or do you find lowering it be preferable for this?

Love seeing all the ways players are customizing their difficulty!

We also have an article that reviews some of that. Might find it helpful Difficulty and HUD: a challenge adapted to your tastes

I've decided to beat the whole game on extreme difficulty without a single death. I've played super safe but failed anyway in the 2nd province, during a Unidad hunt on me
