Anyone think Raider would be good if he had Warlord style armor on his heavies?

I figure if Raider had this, then you would actually have to respect his pressure rather than just hitting him before he finishes winding up. As things are right now you can just hit him with your fastest light if he tries anything other than parrying you into a heavy punish. He needs something. Not even his GB confirms damage without tailoring it to who you're fight. If you GB an Orochi and someone else I believe, they can parry the zone attack. For anyone else you grab you can go ahead and spend your whole stamina bar zoning them or you throw them up against a wall and you can confirm some big damage. In some cases, not even that wall throw confirms damage. The Raider seems really wonky and not quite a finished character at the moment. His neutral game just feels so weak. He's got the swing into top bonk mix up and... other stuff lol.

I guess if it were socially acceptable to go for environmental kills, then Raider be would decent-ish. Even if that were the case, he'd just be a worse Warlord in that respect as well.
I kinda let my disdain for the warlord out a bit, but I'd like to keep this thread about how we could make Raider into a balanced badass.

I think that would be super fun! I love the warlord heavy. If it gets too powerful because of the damage they could experiment with armor on the two last hits in the heavy chain or something.

So you want the power creep to start already?

I agree, I have made large discussion on my post about this! Check it out in the viking section. A lot of great discussion and ideas that the raider does indeed need. He definetly needs some work as I feel he is disadvantaged with most characters especially in a skilled player match.

Hyper armor on his heavies could be viable provided his attack speed remains untouched.
I actually kinda like that idea. I can see more Raiders spamming heavies and me parrying them all... kinda like now

Not really there are two characters with similar mechanics that also have way more tools than raider.
And just for some further insight into my motives all my mains are assassins: 3 rep PK, 2 rep orochi and 2 rep zerker.
I also have at least 10-15 levels with everyone on the roster using almost exclusively duels.

What I'm suggesting is a starting point of sorts. What I would really like to see is a Player Test Server for this game. So, we could at least try these ideas out and balance them before live updates took place.

Like if we made the armor only during a combo chain has been started or maybe the armor is only active during certain periods of the heavy attack animation. I basically just wanted to get a conversation going, Lately all I see is "nerf this!!! if you don't agree with me "insert insult here" . I'll admit I've taken part in this as well, but I wanna see this game thrive or at least set a good foundation for a sequel and I'm hoping what takes place on the forums can contribute to that.

Not really, because the issue with the Raider is that he is a heavy attack spammer, not that the heavy attacks need more armor. He is easily countered with parries. He needs more variety in his kit, something to mix it up, to address his issues. Not something that places further emphasis on this one trick pony's one trick.

Faster heavies and light attacks. And the ability to change to pommelstrike on any heavy not just the first. That's what I think should be done.

nah, I feel his heavies are too slow to make that usable. If the opponent would do a light, he would probably be able to block/parry you heavy after completing his light. If he's throwing a heavy, he would be able to cancel it in time. It would only make the raider better against average players, but not reactive one. Raider already gets parried of every single one of his heavies, making them uninterruptible wouldn't change much.

Love the pommel idea. Also, being able to chose the direction of the pommel would be nice. Right know it is too predictable, everyone that sees a raider "feinting" immediatly gets ready to put his guard on top. Good player even parry it almost every time.
