For honor's combat mechanics is really awesome at it's core. It is easily the game's greatest asset. That being said, I feel that all the 4v4 modes undermine this great combat. It makes them a little mindless. Beside the broken revenge build, 2v1 and worst, usually means death and chaos! Right now, some player fighitng 4 players are near invincible with a revenge build and on the opposite of the spectrum, a normal gear player as absolutly no chance whatsoever. Again, this undermine the game strongest point, it's refined fighting system. How will they fix it?
I think these modes are ment to be chaotic. As much as I hate to get interrupted in a 1v1 while playing dominion, it's up to me to manage it since this mode is pure war about the zones to hold. Kills give you nothing but time here. and 4 people can't guard 3 places at once that hard without a chance to overrun at least one of them with some teammates. And if you manage to fight at least a little bit good with all that noise around you: I see it as a challenge, call you mates with a beacon to come to aid you and survive until they arrive. Or lure them out of the zone, so other team members can take the place over..
I understand what you are saying and let me specifiy that out of these 3 modes, Dominion is the most logical/viable. The only reason being that you can make the enemy split up by caping and using these zones strategically. Eliminiation is 4 v 4 starting in a 1v1 format followed by a a snowball victory in almost every single case and skirmish is so mindless it should be removed from the game. I understand that these modes aren't suppose to be 1v1 (there's duels for this) but they should implement SOMETHING to discourage the constant ganging up. I just hate having to deal with orders I actually started not even doing them. This is how terrible they are. Dominion is my favorite out of the 3 thought....Originally Posted by Hammelsneid Go to original post
Maybe they could add SERIOUS friendly dmg to add realism and discourage the constant 4v1? I don't know...
Well, skirmish isn't my favorite, too, but I had some skirmish matches, wich were pretty decent. The key here is to stay together and not fighting 4 1v1, but decimating the chance for the other team to "gank" single members of your own team. It really needs some strategy, and is not ment to have decent 1v1 fights or prevent "ganking", it's rather ment to require "ganking" (oh, I hate that word so much).
Elimination is similar, but starts with the opportunity to get your decent 1v1 at start. If your a fast killer, good, if you manage to execute you oppnonent, even better. But if you only manage to KO him, youre in a pinch. Help your other teammates or guard the body to prevent reviving? Running from the beginning of the match is also an option, and it bears danger and advantage. If you run away, to help somebody else ("gank" somebody else) your opponent is doing the same. You know what I mean?
This games decent fighting system and perfect fitness for 1v1 duels conceal the purpose of the 3 game modes mentioned before. They are a mix of knowing your class, knowing the other classes, controlling you and them in a fight with more than one opponent, getting them down with the help of others. And believe me, 2v1 not always ends up well for the 2 attackers, since the lonely person gets revenge very fast and is able to take out two players easily if he knows how to play his class.
Of course it's hard and almost impossible to prevent revives in 3v1 situations.. but that's the result of the first decitions of each and everyone in the match or they just are good players (quick killers), who would have beaten you probably in a 1v1 without ganking as well..
Dominion is a great mode with no gear and if both teams are coordinating and know the tactics. But the random Dominion matches are seldom like that. Still, the mode is absolutely fantastic in its core. It's kinda being unfarily ruined by gear, connectivity and players taking too long to figure out the meta.
Duels and Brawls are the saving grace, while people learn to play Dominion, while the gear issue gets attenuted by everybody reaching high level gear... and while (if ever) they sort out the connectivity.
