Upgrading your gear to 108 is a complete waste of steel and parts at this point in the game. If you haven't realized this and already did it, I am sorry. New gear is obviously being implemented in the game, and hopefully the ranked mode that actually matters, will not implement gear stats. I would stay at 78 or whatever your gear is already at, and wait to start upgrading things. As you will find new gear that may be better originally, or look better, etc. Also as I previously stated, there will be DLC content and new gear put in frequently, wasting it now seems pointless. So long story short, save your steel, save your parts from dismantling and don't upgrade your gear just yet. You will need that steel for new content, especially new characters you may like if you don't have the season pass. Hope this helped some of you!

The real suggestion would be "Don't waste boxes or buy gear before renown 3, since purple gear is twice as good as anything before RIGHT NOW.".
Plus, it's really just a "completionist" thing. Gear difference is overrated. You won't notice that much difference between a 50-60 and a 108, and even as 0 against 108 you just only have less room to **** up (which is FINE or gear wouldn't have a point and should just be aesthetic).

The point is that having some stupid orange "108" next to your name doesn't mean anything and does nothing yet, so don't waste your steel and parts. I'm going to take a wild guess that you already have upgraded gear to 108, that is why you come in here with your grumpy saltiness? I made the thread to try and help less experienced players and you pretty much reply to it saying that it is pointless... Yeah you probably have all your gear set to revenge gain and all that BS. Go back to your shanty.

Point is obviously in the future things will come up. It isn't a reason to not optimize now if you fancy that.
Parts are also ONLY used to upgrade, so what's the waste? You'll get so many so fast there's no point in saving them, especially if you agree that itmlvl isn't that impacting.
