Guaranteed damage off parries is cancer.

Parrying and countering guard break are braindead easy here compared to any real fighting game.

Heavy attacks are pointless, chains are pointless, guardbreaks are so easy to tech. Just wait for parries and get free guardbreaks.

    Parry meta is cancer.

I like how the LB has his parry stuff setup. Parry a heavy get a free light (excluding Gb after which shouldn't be a thing.) Parry a light get a free heavy.

Dude if parrys weren't a thing this game would be even more **** than it already is. You people don't want guard break counters to be difficult, you don't want to be able to be parried, you don't want to be punished for getting your light attacks blocked, you don't want to be punished for constantly side stepping, I mean wtf DO you guys want?

Seriously if this game is that bad in your eyes go play Street Fighter or any other real game. I doubt you'll be even remotely successful there if you have a problem with parrying in this game. Don't wanna get parried? Stop throwing out raw heavy attacks and unblockables before conditioning someone.

Fighting game moves have 3 frame mixups.

The fastest swings here take like half a second. You can tech here after the fact. What conditioning.

Once the fix for feinting parrys is in, this should be better. Feints in Chains, and even raw feints will be more powerful mix up tools.

You should definitely get some sort of reward after a successful parry. The guardbreak just makes it universal to all characters.

Spoken like a person who doesn't know what conditioning is. I'm not gonna explain it because there is no point lol. You obviously aren't playing at a high level yet. Go watch some high level play and learn.

The problem isn't parrying, the problem is that the throw mechanic is useless. In any other fighting game, you get thrown when you stand too close to someone. In this game? Nah stand directly in front of people at all times just react to it and spam the GB button as soon as you see the indicator and you can never be thrown. No penalty or risk for being too close to someone is the problem with this game, not parrying.

Other fighting games allow for throw counters though. The difference is other fighting games usual have tighter windows for the counters.

Yeah, parry should interrupt the combo while blocking shouldnt. So if you parry someone, it makes you able to attack next with frame advantage.

********, if parry got changed the game would be alot better.

True for the rest in that quote. I will speak for myself.

I Dont want HARDCOUNTERS nor do i want free damage with no skill. Doing a parry and then getting free-damage is no-skill imo. Even if parry were harder to do it would not be good, i want to earn my damage.
When i play table tennis, i cant hardcounter my opponent, i dont get free balls just because i smash real hard or serve really great, i have to earn my balls in that game. Why cant that be a thing in a video game is beyond me. People like you doesnt seem to understand much what makes good gameplay.

    1. You cannot simply "change parry" in a game like this. The way it works right now is fine mechanically, but its just that there is usually no chance of you missing a parry on a heavy attack unless you just suck at it. If anything, the heavy attacks could be sped up, and the window to parry could be made smaller. You cannot completely revamp it though.

    2. I have read a lot of his previous posts and he actually does have a good grasp on how to balance this game.

Table tennis is nothing like most fighting games, and the funny thing is, table tennis is probably a lot more like THIS game than you even realize. So that was a horrible example. In table tennis, you very well can score on someone by smashing hard and serving great lol. The counters for those two things only depends on how skilled the opponent is, and how well they can return those smashes and serves back to you. Thats exactly what this game is. Back and fourth until someone makes a mistake, gets countered and gets punished.

The way this game works right now, it cannot be played like other fighting games. It doesn't move fast enough to be able to play "footsies" and whiff punish. You can whiff punish lazy guard attempts and maybe some very lazy heavy attack/unblockables, but for the most part, you are safe when you do ANYTHING in this game. I see why people are upset, and it is because everyone wants this game to be completely reworked and that just is NOT an option right now. The devs need to listen to some of the people here who are coming up with good, practical ideas and take a shot at implementing those ideas.

Realistically in other fighting games, you you get a throw, you get a knockdown and a mixup/Oki. In this game, people are complaining so much about guard breaks that you can barely land one in a match if you are lucky. Throws are a powerful tool and thats the way it should be in this game as well, but they are constantly nerfing the guardbreak and making it impossible to actually get one on someone, and thats why the game is so bad right now.

Take out guard breaks and what you would have is a fight that goes to time out, and people constantly running from each other, spamming shoulder bash/headbutts and blocking pitiful light attack attempts.
