You're completely missing the point. We aren't talking about mastering a class. We're talking about being a beginner and using the class in a basic way. We're talking about using the class to beat a level 2 bot. Kensei, Warden, and Raider are each difficult to master but simple to learn and easy to play in the basic manner.Originally Posted by Sawoszao Go to original post
In order to be successful with Kensei I am not talking about being a pro, topping the charts, or crushing high level duels. Being successful with Kensei and Orochi simply means being able to play them at their basic level.
If you play Kensei you can be successful without comboing any of his moves. You can simply dash in for a guard break top heavy. You can then do any of your 3 chains with the top heavy finishers. And you can simply swift strike any attacks. These are his basics and they work very well. If you want to master him, like all classes, you need to combine his abilities and apply feints and parries. We aren't talking about mastering the class. We're talking about why Kensei is "easy" and Orochi is "hard."
Orochi is hard because you can't rely on his chains in order to be successful, like you can with Vanguard classes. Again, you shouldn't be thinking "successful" means you can beat pro players, successful simply means that you're able to play the class at its basic level. You've gotten the fundamentals of the class down. You're able to kill a level 2 bot reliably. In order to do this with Orochi you cannot rely on his chain attacks. In order to play Orochi successfully you will need to combo his attacks into other attacks and you need to pay a lot more attention to reacting to your enemy.
Orochi is much harder to play successfully than Kensei. Both have a high skill cap and both are difficult to master, but Kensei has a very simple foundation while Orochi has a much more complicated foundation. Anyone can pick up Kensei, like Warden, and be moderately successful in a 4v4 Dominion because you can absolutely get by on his basic attacks. The only people who will be challenging are the skilled players who know how to counter Kensei. Orochi, on the other hand, is much more difficult. If you just grab Orochi and run into a match with little experience you will have a much harder time killing people, even those who don't know how to counter him. This is because Orochi relies more heavily on correctly combining his moveset with other moves. Kensei can be extremely hard to beat and a good Kensei player can be extremely successful in PvP by utilizing his combinations and mind games, but he does not rely on these tactics as a foundation, whereas Orochi does.
completely agree, i'm rep 4 with kensei and can say i have mastered him but i still struggle against turtles.Originally Posted by PKUSUB Go to original post
The point is that Orochi has so many options and combinations which make him very difficult to counter. Kensei has **** all tools and not many options which make him fall short in duels. It's a lot harder to win in high level competitive play with kensei compared to Orochi. Kensei is to slow as well. Give kensei something Ubisoft! Speed increase or more options for ffs!
Yes. You're right.Originally Posted by JibletHunter Go to original post
You need a reason to play Kensei instead of Orochi?
How about wanting to not be the 3rd Orochi in the match? Orochi was my first main but I can't play him anymore because I just can't stand being a class that is on both teams twice. Maybe when the Ninja comes out I can return to Orochi as the weeabo train will have moved on to the real ninja.
