I'm very careful these days to get hyped over a game because it seems that every game needs an always on broadband connection. Which I don't have.
So when just about every interview/FAQ/marketing bit I saw for Wildlands said you could play offline with AI, I assumed that you would be able to do exactly that.
Except you can't. Because it won't even start with Uplay in offline mode, no matter whether you turn off automatic updates, cloud saving, overlay and all notifications.
Awesome. Ubisoft strikes again.
Guess its refund time as 'not as described/fit for purpose'?

Not sure who 'they' are but I've seen multiple sources including interviews with the developers where it said you would NOT require a connection to play, even commenting that it was a refreshing change from the current apparent norm.Originally Posted by Brujah1981 Go to original post
Also, it isn't mentioned in the system specs.
Try to run it (GRW.exe) directly from the game folder, I tried this even without internet connection, and it works.Originally Posted by KRX74B2 Go to original post
I have a hunch you're the same Buster who just helped me out over there -->Originally Posted by BusterSTR85 Go to original post
Thanks, dude! I wouldn't have thought of trying that particular brand of crazy. I just assumed when it kept insisting I had to go online to start the game I was going to be screwed.
thanks guys i was getting angry trying to run the game without net, it worked that way even tho its a stupid thing...Originally Posted by KRX74B2 Go to original post
