Is it just me, or are the AI completely useless now that the full game released?

During BETA, the AI would acknowledge and engage enemy ground forces from vehicles and while on foot. Now? They completely ignore all enemy presences unless they are mark with the enemy indicator over their head. Team AI can be under heavy fire, and just run by with no shots returned. Is this a huge **** up by UBI, or am I just missing something?
