🛈 Announcement
Greetings! The For Honor forums are now archived and accessible in read-only mode, please go to the new platform to discuss the game

Sadly, this game is dying even faster than expected

I noticed Ubisoft removed the "Active Player Count" from the game after their first update. I also have realized that there are still extremely glaring issues that have not been addressed yet (with some of the old ones still being an issue for console players, as they're just getting that first update tomorrow morning thanks to Sony and Microsoft having their own confirmation protocol).

I know for a fact that Ubisoft is looking into all of the errors and unbalanced things in the game, and that's dandy. Please, keep em coming. But for the love of all that is holy, PLEASE keep us updated on the forums a bit more often. People are EXTREMELY impatient on these forums as of late, with people raging about this and that (specifically about connection issues and matchmaking errors) more than they are providing constructive criticism on a game with an absolutely massive amount of potential to be great. These people also want the game to succeed because they spent their hard-earned money on it, so if that isn't motivation I dunno what is.

You already know the issues that people want fixed, just please acknowledge that you are at least looking into them before officially releasing the patch notes, especially if your protocol takes more than a week or two to have those changes planned out. People like to see progress, or they'll think nothing is being done.

I play on PC personally, and I've played with the same people a LOT lately, leading me to believe that the player count has dropped tremendously in the past few weeks since its release. As a multiplayer game (which was originally thought to possibly become an esports-level title) this is frightening, and a lot of the people who bought the game and the season pass are feeling the buyer's remorse really hard right now. If the changes come out too late, the player base will already be dead. Heck, it might already be for all we know with the Active Player Count removed. Playing against the same groups of people over and over again isn't exactly what I'd call a unique fight, especially when they all play the same characters every match.

TLDR: Please update more frequently, even if there's no official information and just a "Hey, we noticed this is an issue and we're looking into how this feature/character/etc. could be improved for the health of the game." People love to hear that stuff on forums because it makes them feel like their voices are heard, which, from how these forums have been the past week or so, people do not have a very high opinion of Ubisoft at the moment.

I really want this game to succeed in everything that was planned for it and more. There's a lot of work that needs to go into it first, but it needs to be somewhat fixed soon, or the unique combat system won't mean a thing to the 5000 people who still play the game after the hundreds of thousands of others decided to move onto everything else, like the new Zelda game.

Kick us in the face Ubisoft. Please. Tell us we're annoying kids and you're handling it and it'll all be fixed eventually, and by eventually I mean hopefully sometime soon.

He said, with zero real statistics to back his claim.

You know how loaded a phrase like "a lot" is? You could mean 50 people left and not be wrong. Most? 1% of the population? Any real guess?

How is your angle of persuasion supposed to work on the guys watching the sales number tick up and not down?

A few good games recently came out, but none of them are competing in For Honors market, you're seeing a miniscule dip at best.

Also, you're in an echo chamber, you think "a lot" of people are upset because you're in the one location you will find anyone complaining about the game.

I'm not saying your opinions are invalid, just that you're lacking perspective. I've got a friend who mains Lawbringerand has no idea the class is competative-hot-garbage, but he's enjoying the hell out of himself.

You're the one not paying attention.

I'm not sure about consoles since I'm a PC player, but I doubt people will stick around on this game for too long unless something is done, and soon.

Many of my friends agree that this game is amazing, but so poorly executed that it's almost depressing it was released in this state. I would rather have waited another half a year for the game if it was going to have all of these ridiculous things fixed.

P2P is fine for 1v1 and even 2v2 games because it doesn't put too much risk of one player's connecting ruining the game for everyone, but in 4v4 modes (the ones that Ubisoft have tried to make the primary game modes) it's a disaster. Whenever I DO manage to get into a game, I'm immediately plagued by slow game loading screens, bugged out matches that never start because of failing host migration when someone gets kicked before the game even starts, or the occasional lag switcher who makes an already non-optimized game less fun to play.

On top of balance issues (which are thankfully being reasonably looked at), these connection issues make the game a hassle just to play. THAT, my friends, is why it's so hard to love this game. Its design for the combat system is wonderful, the gameplay is great and exciting (although sometimes repetitive), but the connection issues (not even lag, most of the time) and poor layouts of menu items and ridiculous grind rewards and gear stats make this game tough to enjoy.

I've personally stopped playing against warlords in duels and brawls because it's simply not fun. If I see the opponent lock it in, I leave as soon as the game starts, and since it doesn't count against my win/loss record, I couldn't care less about wasting their time. It's just not fun to play against such an imbalanced character.

I've personally stopped playing 4v4 modes as much as possible outside of getting orders because I hate sitting in the lobby for 5+ minutes looking for a match only for it to glitch out and half the players get kicked upon entering the game, sometimes with it being myself that gets kicked.

It's ridiculous. I want to love this game so badly but it just can't happen, and at this point it's very close to too late for this IP. It could have been the next best thing in so many ways, but Ubisoft decided to rush this brand new game with little to no preparation for the next round of updates, and instead chose to focus on marketing their "SUPER AWESOME SEASON PASS FOR ONLY $40!!!" which honestly doesn't give you anything worthwhile, except for unlocking the new characters and content one week early.

Too bad the game won't last long enough on PC for anyone to make use of that extra content.

Whenever I meet a warden or conq in a 1v1, I simply leave because there is no point in fighting them because you'll only lose and get discouraged wondering what you did so wrong after getting rekt by vortex, zone attacks and shield bashes. There is nothing fun about fighting them, they're completely unbalanced and your opponent who's a warden abusing vortex and feinting into zone attacks are thinking they're amazingly skilled at the game and try justifying how the clearly overpowered heroes aren't overpowered at all and are in fact easily counter-able and balanced.

This is all true, not making this up:
In my last duel I came across someone who played as conq (I got rekt), he said he'd switch, he switched to warden. I commented on how he was so high level on the warden and conq with them being the most overpowered. He then tried justifying how they're completely balanced and I'm just s*** at the game, then continued to say "You haven't even seen OP until I bust out my warlord". I had no words. This was a guy who only plays conq, warden and warlord, like... really?

And then you've got the 4v4s, people running around with 108 revenge gear getting revenge after blocking about 4 hits.

You guys are talking about the spike in gamer presence that's attached to literally every game in assistance... A lot of people are going to buy a game and a lot of people are going to leave when they find out it's just not their cup of tea. It's a good thing you people don't play the stock market.

The OP was a good and seemingly well thought out post.

Reinforced by the article from the post I just quoted.

"For Honor is on track to lose over 90% of its playerbase towards the end of its second month."

Seems accurate to me if they dont fix a few core things that are wrong with the game ASAP.

Player connection issues are huge, but IMO take a second seat to balance issues.

I Stopped playing(5-7 days ago?) because of balance issues, not connectivity issues(which are a big problem.) The connectivity issues dont matter if the balance of the game is so out of whack that it isn't competitive and therefore not fun.

IMO, the importance of issues that need fixed is as follows(Can place connectivity issues first if you want, because that is important.)
    1. Guard switching speed for 2 handed classes to match all other classes.
    2. Do something about stun spam.
    3. Connectivity issues.

My friend hasn't played since a couple days after launch(the one who got me into this game), and I feel more upset about his loss than mine, because he payed the 100$ instead of the 60$ for mine, and hasn't been compensated in any way for the game being completely FUBAR.

Honestly, completely disgusted with this release in the state its been in.

= 100% dissatisfied customer so far.
