What I dislike about all of this demand is the idea that realism should take a back seat to "CUSTOMIZATION FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!".
I mean- honestly, I've seen people who want to have a female Shugoki! What in the actual ****!

why? I want to hear actual reasons.
Example: Valkyries were exclusively female in old nordic viking culture, so gender locking valks makes sense, Shugokis are pretty much sumo wrestlers...pretty much an exclusively male thing...so it makes sense for shugokis to be male locked.

Way I see it PK is a thief. There's literally no reason that dudes can't be thieves. Lawbringer is just another knight like the warden or conquerer, but with heavier armor and a different weapon. those two can be male or female so why the hell not LB? Warlord follows the same deal, theyre just vikings like the raider or berserker, those two can be male or female...Nobushi is...well I don't even really know what the hell nobushi was going for with their theme, but it seems pretty gender neutral to me, at least compared to all the other samurais

Dedicated Servers
Fixing UI issues (like the hey you got a new item ! when you really don't)
Fixing the constant false disconnect issues
Fixing freezing when you exit to world map
Re-balancing shield characters, light attack spam from certain heroes being too quick (one of valks moves + PK light spam) and gear
Fixing 4v4 matchmaking to take gear level into account / gear nerf
Lawbringer buffs

Until then, I hope they don't waste even a second of their time on this.

see, that's a reason I can understand, but everyone who's just like "No they need to stay gender locked because the devs are always right" are really getting on my nerves

There are a bunch of issues that I hope take priority, but it would be great to get rid of the gender-lock on ALL characters.

just seems stupid to me, let us play how we want to play... and it should be an easy fix. Kind of frustrating not having this as an option already, it's not game breaking but why is it even there in the first place.

Gender lock classes are there for Lore reasons. There was never a female who lead her viking tribe. Nobushi's are the wives of samurai's, I can't exactly tell you why for lawbringer but I actually dont think it would a woman

Nobushi makes sense for the gender lock, the naginata was mainly used by female nobility to protect home, family and honour. It was mainly favoured for its length as it compensated for strength and size advantages of male opponents, so I am guessing the nobushi is based off of this. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Onna-bugeisha Looking at the lore, they are protectors of villages too far from the imperial centre that samurai can be spared.

Going by the peacekeeper lore and by one of the executions, they have a very demonic feel and there is a secret they will not talk about, demonic lore and deals usually revolve around young ladies, preferably those who have not had a male to bed with them. I have no real lore reason beyond that, tenuous as it is.

Shugoki in their bios were guardians that became family, guardians in the samurai culture could mean spirits? No real idea but they need 'demonic strength' for their weapon, while you could argue there are strong females, it is more likely to be the big burly ox of a blacksmith that wields that weapon.

Valkyrie, really don't need to go into that one, that is as old as greek plays and probably older.

Lawbringers are essentially executioners, could be a woman's job, could be a woman's weapon, but not as likely.

As Scnads said, there were no females who led their tribe so that is that for warlords.

Some of these are more tenuous than others, it could just be that ubisoft wanted one of each for each faction and they were easiest to make an argument for, honestly with the stuff they actually need to be doing this is a none issue. I don't care what sound my hero makes and where the bulge in their armour is so long as they get the job done.
