This is for the older players...

    Cheers everyone.
Like somebody recently put it so nicely, when teenagers are talking about "old" people these days, they´re talking about us. I´m nearly 40 and with this age comes a certain amount of relaxed manner. I´m not sitting in front of my computer having a blade between my teeth. I´m playing because i want to unwind.
However... the "community" of this game makes this a more and more challenging endeavor every day. The amount of hatefulness, insults and verbal slander that you have to endure on a regular basis is - for me - just mind boogling. I´m neither an inbred jew, nor am i a ****-loving fat ****** who wants to get rammed in the tailpipe...
I think "salt" is the current term for this nonsense.
    Now to my question.
Will there ever be a possibility to turn off the (team)chat?
I found that playing AI matches lets me bypass a lot of this bs even though you are not completely safe from it. However this comes with another hazzard. What are ubisofts plans to deal with afk players during AI Dominion matches e.g.? It´s always great to spawn into a game and find half your team running in circles in your spawn area.
Maybe some other players can relate.
I´d love to hear your stories.

    Moose

This game definitely brings out the salt in kids, no doubt. I just ignore their useless attempts at insults and continue with whatever I was doing to make them rage in the first place.

In regards to the afk exploit, just report them. Ubi is already giving out warnings and bans if they're repeat offenders. Hopefully they plan on introducing a more automated fix, rather than relying on us to do the policing for them.

38 yo on the xbone here.

Sunday was my first time encountering a foul-mouthed edgelord in this game. I promised myself I'd investigate how to mute players after that match and forgot to look into it. On the xbone, you can start a party of one if you want to make sure you don't hear anyone else.

Until that option comes, your best bet is a colored ducttape

i take it by the mention of team chat youre a PC player? im on PS4 and play exclusively vs. AI, perhaps partially due to not wanting to have experiences like yours. Competitive gaming can bring out the worst in people.. but im pretty young and have always preferred playing games co-op or singleplayer vs. bots. Its just my way of chilling out and yet simultaneously letting me live out my own power-fantasies >

Sorry to hear about your own experiences, people make you sick sometimes dont they?

Luckily ive found one person who shares my sentiments that i regularly play the game with. Its moments like that that let you actually enjoy and appreciate the ability to communicate with other people in gaming. In fact, he and i are rather the opposite to the kind of behaviour your describe; always making an effort to say 'thanks' and 'good fight to' our teammates, even though on console we are very limited to just using the stock shoutouts (sometimes id actually prefer the ability to just type to people^^) and additionally avoiding kill-stealing as much as possible. I know it sounds rather self-righteous, but its honestly more fun knowing everyone's involved and allowed to contribute rather than hogging all the glory for yourself. These are team-games ffs.. how ironic that most would rather lone-wolf it to prove their own badassery on the scoreboard.. Honestly its a shame more players arent as considerate as us, but i digress ^^

As to the AFK players, Ubi made a post about this earlier; those reported by players (with sufficient proof) will first get a 'warning', then potentially, temporarily / permanently banned.

..Honestly i think most of us would prefer if the lazy bu**ers just had their characters reset.

First thing I did after few days of hate and insults was: I turned off the chat ^^ simply go to the options, then Interface and disable text chat.

Edit: Well, dont know if this option is PC only ..

Ignore the little mugs, I'm 36 and would be embarrassed if I was like that at any age. K/D has a lot to answer for, if it wasn't in most games i am 100% sure players would play more chilled and we would get better games.

You can disable chat. Some of my friends did.

Thx for the info about turning off the chat! I wish having a handle for these afk leechers would be as easy :-)
