You are on equal footing. Some characters can take you out of positioning.Originally Posted by ShadowBandit39 Go to original post
That's the point, certain characters get advantage on certain maps which means that you are not on equal footing. If missing a cgb equals instant death versus other maps where it doesn't, then its not equal.Originally Posted by TCTF_SWAT Go to original post
If this game is comparable to a regular fighting game at lest in 1v1 or 2vs2 modes, environmental hazards never give advantages to either player.
Because the game was based around dominion mode.Originally Posted by ShadowBandit39 Go to original post
Also some fighters had ring outs. SC and tekken come to mind. As did the some of the older MK games.
I play mostly Duels and some maps are stupidly designed around environmental kills. All those narrow bridges, walls or destroyed weeb tower map are annoying to play. I dont feel good when i win and i feel robbed when i lose.
As far as i remember no Tekken game has ring outs, same with MK(except some fatalities but that hardly counts).Originally Posted by TCTF_SWAT Go to original post
I voted for environmental kill being part of the but I need to elaborate.
I have no problem in throwing/pushing someone off a ledge or into fire. Everyone should be ready to face that kind of situation and every characters have access to it so it's all good for me BUT the way some (a hell of a lot actually) maps are designed make them too easy to abuse and this is a problem (and will be even bigger of a problem if Ubi want to push For honor into e-sport environment).
When you have an area with some room to move around and some pit of doom at the edges it's fine but having maps consisting in a tight bridge where any hit will push a player off the ledge is stupid and shouldn't be in a game based on skills.
So environmental kill : Yes, ****ty map design : No
I am one of those honorable guys I guess...
I dont throw someone off for nothing. But if I think he just choose that place to fight because he wants to throw me off, the often end in beeing thrown down first.
I also had a 1v1 a few minutes ago where it was 0-2 for me, then catched up to 2-2 and the last fight I have won because I threw him down...
That wasnt intentional and he called ma a honorless btard afterwards. I was still in my combo as valk and was about to spearsweep his legs when he decided to dodge to a place where he has a cliff in his back which then let him fall off the cliff...own stupidity, I mean, what does he expect? that I dont touch him when his back is close to a cliff like its some immunity charm? :>
The 3D MK games ring outs. Tekken did (or still does) too it just wasn't common in tekken.Originally Posted by Iskaroth Go to original post
Dunno about Tekken, but Toshinden, Bloody Roar and Virtual Fighter did (or still does) have ring outs.Originally Posted by TCTF_SWAT Go to original post
Having some characters benefiting more from environmental kills than others is fine, as long as devs take that in account when balancing the game. Indeed, maps like bridges may be a bit extreme, but i noticed that on other maps, when there's plenty of space to fight and the cliff not too close, i almost never ends as an environmental kill. Seems hard to balance.
No MK game ever had ring outs, neither did any Tekken game. Virtual Fighter, and Soul Calibur are the only two modern games that consistently did this. That doesn't mean that its not a good mechanic. It is a great mechanic and adds another dimension of realism to the gameplay.Originally Posted by TCTF_SWAT Go to original post
