I'm assuming reviews will not be released until Tuesday? It's always worrisome when developers wait until the release date to allow critics to post their reviews. Nevertheless, what are you guys expecting? By Metacritic's standards, I'm predicting a 77. Are you guys worried about the lack of any reviews with the game less than 24 hours away? If the game completely bombed would you consider cancelling your pre-order?
I'm predicting the same generic biased reviews we always get. Sites that got swag will give good scores. Sites that didn't will give bad/mediocre ones. Half the reviews on Youtube and Metacritic will be by fanboys, haters and/or people who don't even own or have played the game. There will be a crap-ton of barely understandable reviews on Steam from people with 0.1 hours played. lol
I think anything above the score i mentioned(77) would be great. Speaking in truth, the game seems to be lacking some polish in some important areas. The driving mechanics are pretty rough(flying however is decent). The animations and graphics in some areas could be better, but maybe I'm just spoiled from developers like Rockstar and Naughty Dog when it comes to those departments. I know critics will complain about the driving and probably the story. I had no interest in the cutscenes or what was going on in the story. Nothing drew me in, but maybe it was just the mood I was in when I was playing the beta. The cutscenes, which are obviously pre-rendered, kinda took me out of the game a little bit. Nevertheless, that's nitpicking I guess. Anyways, like I said, anything above a 77 by Metacritic's standards would be good.![]()
My guess is 6.5
There are so many issues with this game that can easily knock the score down.
Extremely Repetitive missions theres literally like 3 different missions varieties I mean seriously Warframe had more variations in missions.
Lack of any type of story theres absolutely no real story to this game at all
Lots of bugs
Terrible AI
List just goes on and on. But regardless people know what they're getting themselves into so doubt many will cancel pre orders.
Yeah, I can tell what kind of game I'm getting in its entirety just from playing the beta. Expand the two regions and missions we played to 21 regions and there ya go. I agree with the problems you mentioned, not to mention the bad driving mechanics. Like I said, I would love to see something in the upper 70s(out of 100). I would be blown away if this game sat above a 85 on metacritic when all the reviews are out. I think critics will rip this game apart sadly.Originally Posted by xWTOx SkiLLz Go to original post
I think this is a game that will be infinitely better down the road once everyone gets their hands on the game and we get some crucial updates(bug fixes, PvP, new content, etc).
I know I'm getting a fun, somewhat addicting open world military shooter and I'm ok with that. The beta was fun.
7/10 with the whole potential rant and up to an 8 with DLC. Completely redundant really and reminds me of a review I read when I did read them way back when MGS2 came out, it got a 7/10 with a disappointing rant to it and that was the last time I ever read a gaming magazine or took a review seriously.
I don't go completely off of reviews, because I've played some badly reviewed games that were fun and worth purchasing, and then good reviewed games that were not that great to me. I still respect them and like to hear others opinions, but if a game completely bombs and everybody is giving it terrible reviews, then that is when I try to stay away.Originally Posted by MannyRibera84 Go to original post
Embargo ends March 6, 3am PST. Mentioned in the review guide that came with the review copies Ubi has sent out.Originally Posted by Iunatic Go to original post
I wouldn't expect Review scores to be out until late this week at the earliest, to test the game's online capability.
Based on about 30 hours of playing the full release version of the game + Day One patch, I'd say I'd be very surprised if this game scored an 8 or higher.
It's not that the game is bad.
It's just not.... good, either.
It's very average.
It does a good job of being a stealth shooter, and the gunplay is really good. But the framework around the gameplay just isn't all that enticing.
There's a very loose, average story tacked on to try and tie all the provinces together and give you some sense of purpose - but you lose that sense pretty quickly once you realize that your actions don't really seem to have any sort of real impact on the world. Bolivia feels very bland and static.
They've created a really nice open world, but they haven't really populated that world with fun or interesting things to do. The majority of the side missions repeat themselves in some shape or form, which makes the game feel very reminiscent of The Division. It's always stealing a plane, or a helicopter, or chasing a convoy, or interrogating / intimidating etc etc. As a result, things begin to feel very repetitive very early on in the game.
I do think the overall experience will be influenced heavily based on whether or not you have friends to play the game with - playing solo can be a lonely, uninteresting affair. But playing with friends, using key tactical communications and gadgets and such, could make this a really interesting time.
I have to say, as well - I'm a bit disappointed with how the game looks, visually. Ghost Recon has always been a "looker" of a game, with nice visuals. This game doesn't really have that.
I hate doing this, but if I'm giving a score for my first impressions, it's probably a 6 / 10 or a 7/10
