Gear effect spoiled all of the games.

Especially, Revenge boost truly broke the game.
No skill, No technique, and no tactics. Just playing time and farmed AFKer were welcomed.
The giant-killing never come in this system.
If the newbie who have some talent for this game came, he would be beaten by gears, would leave this game because of this ridiculous mechanics.

Heroic Gear should be just honor, not buff.
Otherwise those should be activated only on dominion match.

while i def. do agree that revenge gear needs a serious rebalance and most stats need to have their scaling adjusted i dont think its THAT bad.

i had games where my whole group was below 50 item-level while the enemy team was 4 players at 108 and we still won pretty easy.
i had a game where my 108 valk, a 108 orochi and 2 bots won very easily against 4 reputation 5+ players with gear between 60-90 while the bots actually had the most takedowns (me and the orochi mostly guarded A and C while bots were running around destroying the enemy team).

judging by that, skill just wildly varies and gear doesnt say much (neither does reputation tbh)...
only thing i do know: if i see reputation 3 players with 108 gear i know that i can destroy them 95%+ of the time cause they just spent money to get there and rely way too much on the gear.

Solution to revenge. always have a shugoki next to you and whenever someone pops revenge immediately demon's embrace and smack the living daylights out of the poor sod. Works every time.

Then you're playing bads. A lot of classes can kill you before you stand after a revenge parry, so once they get it up you simply can't attack. Losing the objective or straight up dying because you had the gall to attack them? Yeah that's fair.

Your only option is to hope they fall for a feint, allowing you to bait the revenge. But good players won't fall for it.

What are you talking about? When I hit R3 with my raider I had 7 crates and ~25000 steel and my only purchase was the deluxe edition. I mean, I won't argue your skill because I've got no idea, but don't just assume people spent money. A lot of the 108ers are just legitimately terrible. You get the same for a win as a loss after all.

dont attack them when you know they can pop it.

use control skills as revenge wont stop them (if your class has any, if not -> wait for backup)
if they just wait for you to attack first so they can get a revenge-parry just turtle yourself and dont fall for it. its annoying as hell, but nothing else to be done atm (thats why revenge needs a redesign)

fair enough, allthough when i hit R3 on my first char, i wouldnt have had enough materials to upgrade everything to max level.

but my point still stands: most players with high item level and low rep are too dependent on the gear to win and you can out-smart most of them fairly easy... those are also the ones that fall for feints rather easy (esp when it comes to revenge, as they think they have an "i-win-button" with it).

Anyway, if it come from not playing time but purchased steel, the matters getting much more worse.
Pay2win is not game but shame.

Honestly, I'd rather have this whole stat-changing gear system dropped. This sort of mechanic has no place in a fighting game. It's an unnecessary burden: The most experienced player will have better gear, but he/she is already more experienced than the opponent, so why must he/she also have this broken advantage, on top of that of his/her skills?

Feats already give a unique twist to 4v4 modes. I'd much rather see investment in balancing those, as some are clearly better than others.

Gear stats are essential traits. Games like this, and games in general, have standardized the need for us to be able to customize our characters to their fullest. The only thing that needs to be adjusted is Revenge Mode.

    @ up

You are not right. This is not an mmo, or hack'n'slash.

This is a fighting game, where the only thing that should matter is your skill, nothing more.

Have you ever seen a fighting game with gear stats that are so game-changing? Because I haven't.

This is an outrage for me. The heroic gear looks cool, everyone can see that you have one. Why couldn't we stay at that? For me, this should be just a cosmetic trophy to reign fear in hearts of your enemies, not an easy mode like: "I'll just hit rep 3, spend some steel to get my attack bumped and do a revenge build, and f**ck you all, even if you are better than me." This is just pure nonsense.

Especially when you consider the fact, that the more you play one character the better you should get. So why boosting your skills even more?! If matchmaking worked properly, it maybe could be accepted, but for f*cks sake, I can't lvl up new characters now, as I'm being matched mostly with purples/golds. Even if I know I'm better, this is just pain in the arse to fight them, and they have the high ground in every clash we have. 3 heavies landed = I'm dead. They take 3 hits - they activate revenge in 1v1 = I'm dead.

It is no fun at all.

    It is pure nonsense.

    Not true.
    You even prove it yourself.
This is a fighting game, you say, then you say no fighting games have gear stats that change the game.
    See?
Not a fighting game then, is it?
Fighting games don't have gear stats and Revenge Mode, or the many many ways to kill your opponents that involve not fighting at all.
They built the game so that it's half fighting game, half MMO / RPG.
It's most popular mode is more about capturing zones than fighting.
