Like progression, difficulty is individual as well.

No that's not what I said at all. I'd love some useful options when matchmaking (rather than the none we have now). I was offering a realistic and easy alternative since I doubt the devs are going to go out of there way to add in a redundant (since you are supposed to use the Ghost Network) setting that restricts a feature they purposely put in the game. Changing difficulties on the fly is something the purposely put in and it can be changed on the fly along with all the other associated HUD settings and whatnot that go hand-in-hand with it. To have what the OP wants work those would have to be permanently restricted based on the current hosts settings otherwise they would be pointless (since someone could just join and then change them).

If the OP wants that much control over who he plays with than he simply shouldn't be PUGing in the first place and instead use the tools they already provided to find a group of players who want the same thing.

I don't actually think the existing tools are a replacement for hosting options.

Ubisoft might not add in hosting options. You might be right about that.

But I'm going to be honest; of all the requested features I've seen, this one would appear to require the least amount of work.

    1) When joining someone's game, it should check the host settings to see if they have 'Enforce Difficulty' turned on.
    2) If so, a message will appear for the joining player to inform them that their difficulty settings will be locked to the host's, which is also displayed. A button/key shortcut would allow the joiner to accept or decline and return to menu.
    3) During the game, only the host can change the difficulty. For joined players, the options in the menu will be greyed out and if hovered over displays the message 'Cannot change difficulty settings on this host's server.'

This is basically all UI and networking functionality. It's not exactly trivial but it's a far cry from people asking for entirely new features. And it's also an incredibly reasonable request for an online game.

Like I said I wouldn't hold my breath for it. We don't even have region settings. Matching difficulties is a minor thing compared to the fact when PUGing you can't even control if the guy connecting to you is in your area or trying to play from a cave on the other side of the globe on a 56K dial-up modem. That's something that affects the core functionality of the game regardless of personal preferences on settings and playstyle. If they are going to start adding in matchmaking options it's much more reasonably a request they start with the important ones like that.

Tho, like I said I know what the answer will be from them. It will be that we should use the already provided tools like the Ghost Recon network and Taskforces to find like-minded players instead. It's one of the reasons (even in games with decent matchmaking/hosting options) I never bother with PUGs unless I'm just screwing around and don't care. It's like playing the lottery but for decent teammates instead of money (with about the same chance of "winning" too). lol
