This is the easy solution to gear. They should have gear stats ON and gear stats OFF playlists for ALL PvP game modes. This would allow people to pay-to-win and have their fun, and this would allow people who enjoy the base For Honor mechanics to also have fun.
I think this is the easiest solution that will still allow players who threw down a lot of money to continue enjoying their gear.
It still doesn't address the awful servers or abysmal matchmaking, but out of those 3 issues (gearscore, matchmaking, and servers), it seems like the gearscore issue is the easiest to resolve by separating the PvP game modes into gear stats ON and gear stats OFF.
Horrible idea. The less split the player base is, the better. It's taking long enough to find matches already.Originally Posted by Fox F6 Go to original post
Besides that, you have as much chance of getting matched against players with good gear as you are of having them on your own team while the other team gets more low level gear players.
4 vs 4 is a team game.
sounds good on paper, but in practice it would split the playerbase up too much. The only way to fix the gear stats is to completely rework them.
-Either do away with stats altogether, making high level gear sets purely cosmetic in every game mode, and not just those in which stats are disabled
-Make more severe tradeoffs for high level gear, for example, making it so that having the ability to one shot people in revenge mode means you will generate revenge more slowly, or take more damage in general, or perhaps both (I know it already does this, but I mean an equal tradeoff, so that if you deal X more damage with this sweet new blade, you will also TAKE X more damage when you are attacked, as opposed to taking X/4 damage
-Change all the stats effected by gear. Replacing stuff like revenge gain by injury, revenge attack, regular attack, you know, all the stuff people stack to get one shot revenge builds, and replace them with stats that aren't as easily exploited, say...I don't know...increased guard break counter timing window, stun duration increase/resistance, stuff like that.
-Simply reduce the effectiveness of gear, making the difference given by your stats a very small advantage, eliminating one shot builds while still increasing damage if you build for it.
-Or maybe even a mix of any of the above.
Neither is good. Do you not see that? It's not good when you have the overwhelming advantage. It's not good when the opponents have the overwhelming advantage. Gear stats provide players an overwhelming advantage. They kill you in 1-3 hits out of revenge mode and specifically want to get into outnumbered situations to charge up their revenge meter quicker. If your team doesn't have the gearscore to compete, you will lose unless you have supremely good coordination to circumvent their gear.Originally Posted by rodpc Go to original post
I would rather take 5 minutes to find a match than 30 seconds to get into a doomed to fail match.
Quality over quantity.
There's probably a lawsuit waiting to happen if they took away the gear stats after people paid money into it. Even nerfing the gear severely might trigger a lawsuit due to deception.Originally Posted by Themurloc Go to original post
I'm fine with stats, the problem is the stats they're using are moronic.
Revenge was designed and balanced to create a 1vX comeback mechanic. For that to remain balanced there should be NO stats attached to it at all, let alone 4 or 5.
Temporarily disable stats, then release the system in a balanced form that doesn't buff revenge.
