Just do the option select of dodge-> heavy->light if you are going for the counter. If you get the counter it will do the shoulderpin if you don't you will do the dodge attack.
i actually tried that after seeing it in a video and it did NOT work at all.

sometimes it would do a side-dodgeattack, other times it would do a dodge followed by a zone-attack etc.
basically seen any possible outcome BUT the one it was supposed to give xD
