So Many Level-1 Players At Top Of Leaderboards?

I was noticing this: how are there so many Players that are ranked as Level-1 on the Global Leaderboards placing so high on them? Do Players revert back to Level-1 after a period of not logging in/inactivity? Or is this a Leaderboard "glitch"?

I've kinda wondered about that too. I'm level 57 but on the leaderboard I'm level 1 so it must be some sort of glitch.

This is just a visual glitch. I still don't know what causes it, but it started happening a LONG time ago. At first a lot of us thought it was hacking, but you can see it happen on known non-cheaters all the time. I have seen it on myself several times. Sometimes everyone looks like that.

Its a corruption in one of the binary fields of the global leaderboards.

Shows most riders with rank 1 and the standard armadillo.

    Well...

Coming back after a long absence, I think I can answer this. It is a bug, and I'm pretty sure it's caused by Facebook integration, or possibly merging accounts.

I loaded up the app for the first time in over a year the other day, and while refreshing my memory and poking around it asked me to sign in to my Ubisoft account. Not remembering how I did it before, I figured I probably just did it via Facebook, so I clicked the login with Facebook button. The game then took me to the tutorial assuming I was a new player, and removing all my progress. I contacted Ubisoft support for a solution (after realising I had previously used an email login) and they just told me to pause the game and sign into my email account from there. I did that and it solved the problem.

I got my progress back, but something was different. Now the game had registered a Facebook account, my name was changed to my Facebook name, and all my records showed a Level 1 rider on a basic armadillo. I had quit the tutorial halfway through, and of course the tutorial is done on a basic armadillo with a level 1 rider....

I know that previously I didn't have this problem, because I remember seeing the level 1 riders at the top and wondering if it was a bug or if they were hackers. So I completely uninstalled the game, reinstalled it and logged in just with my email account. Now my name has been restored and all my rider records show the correct rider level and bike again.

I did explain this at the end of my Ubisoft support ticket, but I don't think they quite got the message. Either way I'm pretty sure that's the cause of the bug, though as I said at the start I'm not sure if it's the Facebook integration that causes the problem, combining two accounts (facebook and email) or perhaps it's a bug caused by starting the tutorial again (for whatever reason - new device?) and then logging in and overwriting the tutorial. Still I'm fairly confident the problem is caused by one of these three things.

    Anyone care to contribute further?
