So I'm sure at this point many people have seen the attack indicator "glitch" where it says they are attacking one way only to then hit from another direction at the last second. Usually you see this with zone attacks, but it can happen with others. I honestly mostly see it happen when fighting assassins when they do dodge attacks. I plan on getting a video at some point but there is already videos out there talking about it. Now i know some poeple think it isnt a glitch or exploit and is ment to be in the game. But this "mechanic" when there is even a slight delay between people playing makes it so that you see the first attack indicator (the one not actually hitting you) and then you get hit by the actual attack right before the actual indicator shows up.
Ergo unless you are already blocking on the side it hits you will get hit because there is no animation to it due to slight delay between players. So they can just get free damage, which is kinda bs.....but thats just what i think.
It's not a feint. Feints are accompanied activated with the feint button and are accompanied with a ghosting effect as your animation is interrupted.
What OP's referring to is the ability to cancel one attack directly into a different attack (generally a zone attack). The result is that the UI displays multiple separate directions for the incoming attack within one animation. The gap between the second displayed direction and impact is so small that some classes with slower guard change speed like Lawbringer can not change their guard in time the attack.
Yeah no, that wouldnt even show what im talking about at all. Also there is an animation and everything for a feint attack. congrats on being the response i was expecting.Originally Posted by B.00N Go to original post
It can be even worse when there is some lag due to the P2P. you will see an animation for an attack top for instance and get instantly hit from the right because of the slight lag not all of the animation is showing. SO yeah its an issue.Originally Posted by Gen.Armchair Go to original post
Also its super easy to do. was testing it with a friend, just change your guard to a side the zone doesnt come from and it shows an attack coming from that side quick before the zone comes out :/
I have seen what Templar_Rapier is talking about and it isn't a feint. A feint is relatively obvious. I can't say whether this is a bug or oversight or an actual "mechanic" but either way it's pretty awful.Originally Posted by B.00N Go to original post

The immediate change of one guard into another on the attackers part, without knowing other than the visual cue from their character that they are doing their zone is definitely a powerful and exploitable tool. It can drastically change a pace of a fight if someone knows how to exploit it. Certainty Should't be a mechanic if it is.
No I'm pretty sure multiple characters can pull off this move, at least I can with Valk who I main. So basically in her moveset it says that when she dashes, her stance is automatically set in the direction of the dash, leading to the apparent direction of her dash attack. Yet, I can attack with a top light from a side dash, and it's not a smooth animation like the dash attacks usually are -- she stops abruptly in the dash directly into a top light. I've been able to land this pretty consistently too when my opponents are blocking to the side, making me think they're getting this false attack indicator thing.Originally Posted by Ziembski Go to original post
Yeah i've seen valks do this, only not the cancel into the top light usually what i've seen is a dash attack showing them hitting from the left (or right) and then instantly they hit from the right (or left). The major issue tho, even if its an intended feature is the animations do not match up at all. You only ever see about half the attack animation. Which is a huge problem when the attacks are super fast.Originally Posted by SphericalChip53 Go to original post
Worst i've seen was actually a berserker who clearly knew how to exploit it. Every attack they did (dodge attack or just normal attack) would have two indicators. And the animations were super bugged out. Would see half the animation for them attacking one way just to have them instant hit another. Wasn't even feint attacks either as they were all light attacks.
