This is a very hard question to answer at the moment.. Aesthetically speaking, the game is in****ingcredible! looks beautiful, plenty fun to play and a good variety of characters and play styles to learn. It took me a few days before I found my preferred character and I had lots of salty fun in the process lol.
BUT.. Like so many others are saying, the game still has a ton of issues between connections, character/ gear balance, and implementation of some mechanics. If you're the type that can look past a lot of ugly and still have fun then you should buy it now. If not, I highly recommend that you hold off on the game for now. I play on PC and have played many early access games but, I got For Honor on PS4 since I thought the MP experience may be better but this still feels like and early access game that's trying to come out of beta right now.
This has the potential to be an amazing game. As it is, the core gameplay is excellent. The matchmaking definitely needs work, but connectivity for PC has improved drastically since the patch for me personally.
I'd say, if you think you would enjoy the game itself, and don't mind some bugginess and a clunky user interface, go for it.
Also let me explain. If you get a game right now, at first you gonna go, "Wow! this is great! wtf were they talking about?!". Then you will get mad cause you think you should be doing better, then you will actually get better and get over most of the things and have fun again for few days. Then once you get into a game you will facepalm and just ask why any of this? Why the matches close with no warning, why the sudden fps lags that close the game, why orders are perma done if you give up one, why p2p, why buff pk, why death pits everywhere, why ladder mechanics, why duel maps are trash, why faction war winners based on time of day, why, why, why, why, why? All of this **** will make you so mad that you will wanna punch this game in a face and sue the devs for all crimes of human kind ever.
The p2p is r3al, if you enjoy playing russian roulette then you may enjoy this game too, but if you were my best friend i would recommend you to forget that this game exists, the global active population is already under 40% from the first week, the game is dying quickly, why would you pay to get on a sinking ship
It really depends. Are you a casual? Than buy it and you will love it once they nerf Peacekeepr and Nuboshi because they only listen to casual players.
If you have EVER played ANY fighting game EVER SF/Killer Instinct. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME. You will learn very quickly that this game is broken beyond repair. Almost every attack sans Warlords headbutt wardens 360 attack or peacekeepers second light in their string is completely react-able to the point of if you attack in this game it's because you made a mistake and got impatient. If you feel like buying this game I would suggest checking this video out first. https://clips.twitch.tv/FlirtyWonder...nderthalYouWHY This game is garbage. I love it. I will never play it again.
No, wait til it's on sale.
The game itself is fun when it works, but mostly it doesn't. It's a perfect example of a game released before it's ready. Wait a few months until it's at least half price and pray that it still has a big enough population to support the craptastic P2P system and that Ubi have finally fixed the plethora of bugs
PRO's
-- The game itself is amazing.
-- Refreshing combat.
-- People seem to get good FPS.
-- Nice Graphics, and great attention to detail on maps.
-- It looks like UBI will support this one (If R6:S is any indication of how UBI will support this game, then theres a lot to come)
-- A ton of depth. Classes & move combos that arent extremely hard to learn, but are very hard to master.
-- Has a single player thats OK, some really nice levels and only a few great fights inbetween fighting some monotonous enemies. It serves a purpose to teach you how to play though.
CON's
-- P2P: This game is having some dogged issues with connectivity & imo is almost solely responsible for all of the negative reviews on steam, and my only real gripe. MATCHMAKING too. Expect long wait times, disconnects, bad matchups you name it... other than the launch of BF4, this is by far the worst matchmaking ive experienced.
-- Theres some hefty IAP (In app purchases) here. Its not quite pay to win, but its not just fully cosmetics either. Although in the 1v1 & 2v2 gamemodes your gear dosent matter. Which is good because they are the most compedative modes.
--Some say there too few game modes, but I quite like the ones they have. Im sure theyll add some more down the line anyway.
--As a lvl 5 player you can get matched against the real Arthur Dayne, Thor, level 200 tenchu, and the Mountain... And the game will put you on a team with 3 bots against them.
I think its worth it... But the matchmaking and connectivity will test your patience to near breaking point.
