Yeah, you should get a war asset deduction of maybe 5% if you play as a non-faction character. That way people would join the faction they play most as.
I made a post about this concept, how it defeats the purpose of factions in the first place. I agree that there should be increased XP, Steel, and Assets for playing as your Faction's Heros.
