The kensai gas very fast and damaging light attacks, that can be chained with ease.
He is very, very strong. He also has his hilt strike. A well rounded, very powerful hero, with the strongest light attacks in game. While the wardens upper light is fast, it deals not that much damage, can only be chained two times and has a relatively high cool down.
The shugoku has extrem high damaging strikes, uninterruptable light strikes (they are not even slow), uninterruptable stance, great cc and the biggest health pool in the game. The conqueror has one move ) shield bash
Nobushi ... yeah .. where to start. Highest damaging heavy strikes (faster, than the GB time window is long) dots, dots, more dots, damage bonus on dotted targets, highest range, fast, great escape moves. ... Lawbringer ... Snuff said
Orochi ... fast spammer, heavy attacks into a GB, unblock able counter attacks (nit even needed), ultra fast light attacks, that can be chained, side stepping is awesome. PK ... ok ... the PK is really good as well.
And you ask yourself, why the samurai heroes are constantly nerfed?
It's really astonishing how clueless most of you people are. Also hypocrites. Just like wardens asking for buffs for wardens. Both orochi and kensei are one of the stronger well rounded characters. Both have incredible variety in their kits to outplay their opponents. Want example?
Orochi:
- Has multiply ways to get in or get out from fights and these can be executed differently. All other characters who even have a way to dash/ jump forward into a fight with an attack has only the option to attack from top. Which makes it super predictible.
- Side dodges with light slashes
- Deflect into unblockable brutal stab
- Deflect into cancel into guardbreak
- Double tap attacks
- Quite amazing damage and DPS
- Strong attack faint into incredibly quick and powerful zone attack (almost unblockable unless you anticipated it)
- Dash into guard break
- Free heavy top from guard break
And that's not even all. There are ways to chain. cancel, substitute those moves and mechanics. This gives him loads of possibilities to adapt to enemy playstyle.
Kensei:
- Maybe fkin base stats for a starter? High defence, high offence, high dmg, Recovery time.
- Insane speed, range and dmg attacks.
- Unblockable chains
- Side dodges with the most annoying side slashes which are almost unblockable
- Charged attacks
- Charged attacks cancels into side light slashes
- Inconsistent combo speeds which makes them harder to block or parry. If you get hit by the first ligth attack from the chain, the second almost surely will connect- it's almost like a double tap.
Both kits of these characters are overloaded with option to outplay your oponent and/or are just straight better in doing certain things that other classes can do.
In comparison let's look at the conqueror:
- Block an attack, Guard break and hope it goes through, Heeavy shiled bash into a wall, heavy shield bash into a wall.
If you have no wall, you are screwed unless your enemy is a potato and is unable to comprehend that all he needs to do after a heavy is a dodge to reset.
That's it. That is literally all conqueror has to outplay his oponents. Heavy hitter tag is a joke on that character because his damage is worse than for example kensei.
The truth is: If you complain about conq being OP and samurai characters being weak then you most likely aren't a very skilled player. Git gud.
If you're on PC, add me. I will literally beat you with any character, even ones I have never played before. You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.Originally Posted by Charanis Go to original post
Ok so considering I have about 30 hours of Kensei under my belt (it's not even my main) I know a fair amount of the class and while I agree on some of your points I also disagree on others. Funnily enough that's why I think Kensei is fine where it's at right now. Want to keep this post civil so no BS like "git gud" or "you need to learn and play more" this is just my opinion and making a fair point about a class.Originally Posted by Charanis Go to original post
1) Insane speed... Not really. We have a pretty quick top light attack which I use a fair amount cause it either hits or at worst gets blocked. It's similar to Warden/orochi top light, I rarely get parried as long as I don't telegraph it to my opponent. Our heavy attacks match other classes and like others they are easily parried. Other attacks aren't fast I rarely to never use AoE attack and the side lights get parried more often than I'd like to admit!!
2) Range- Our range is one of our best tools, the lights have great range especially the sides as the char tends to lunge and cover a lot of ground which is great against a retreating assassin that's dodging back. The second light attack which is a poke is awesome to catch people off guard. I whiff the first light then poke again when they look to punish. Plus it makes sense that the Kensei has lots of range due to the massive sword it's wielding!
3) Damage- Our damage is great but in my opinion (I could very well be wrong) it's not over the top compared to others. lights are solid and heavies are same as others. Our unblockable is our highest damaging attack BUT (and this goes nicely into my next point) are parried like no tomorrow.
4) Unblockables- Other classes like Raider and Lawbringer have them and they are so easily dodged/parried it's a joke. They are nothing special and unless you're pushed into a wall (it's a guaranteed hit) you can do something about it. You can parry or dodge it with low risk. I tend to feint my unblockable if it isn't a guarantee to get the easy parry after and as a mix up.
5) Charged attacks- Sorry but what do you mean with this? We have heavies like others and the unblockable but no charge attack in our arsenal. Charged attacks I consider to be like Conq shield bash, warden shoulder charge or warlord headbutt. If you refer to our slow AoE attack (RB + RT) then it's pretty useless other than against mobs in dominion.
6) Side dodge with slash- This can be hard to deal with for newcomers at first but if it's well timed by the Kensei then you will be punished just like the Beserker side attack and the Orochi one. Thing is if you manage to simply BLOCK this attack then you get a free guardbreak. I think that's pretty balanced as you could lose 30% health from a GB in some cases.
7) You missed out one thing which is the Kensei's best tool and that's the fact that we have one of the fastest if not THE fastest feints in the game. I've done 2 feints and a light attack in the time it took a Lawbringer to do one. That's our best tool by a country mile and our best thing going for us.
When looking at it overall I don't think any class should be buffed apart from maybe the Raider and Lawbringer. They rely on environmental kills more than anyone else as their tool kit is either not damaging enough or too easy to predict. Before you jump the gun Raider does NOT need a damage buff that was of course the LB reference! Kensei I think is fine as it is, I would rather see balancing changes the other way round and sort out the Warden vortex perhaps, Warlord headbutt speed or the Shugoki with it's stupid bug atm where you can't parry the unblockable! A few sensible changes from UBI and we could see a real variety in classes as the others don't seem too bad. I have little to no trouble with any other class other than Warden, Warlord and Shugoki. Peacekeepers are a 50/50 as it depends on the player using it. Great players destroy me but poor to average just spam dash heavy attack and will get parried to death. Then again you can say that about any great player using any character!!
Again if people disagree just say your point respectfully I can't be arsed with a **** measuring contest behind a keyboard.![]()
Don't forget that Conq hit like a wet noodle in the last beta, which was buffed INCREDIBLY MUCH.He has one of the highest damage hits in the game now, while being able to turtle like no tomorrow.Originally Posted by coloss3070 Go to original post
