I play using an xbox one controller and have noticed that getting into the Nobushi's hidden stance (down on right stick or 'C' on keyboard) is so unreliable that I hardly ever use it in proper fights. This severely limits how well one can play considering the huge potential of the hidden stance.
After some testing playing with the keyboard (as there is a specific key for your hidden stance), it is guaranteed to switch stance every time which means you can play so much better than with a controller.
I saw a thread a little while ago mentioning how the hidden stance seems to be much harder to activate than the heavy's full block stance (on controller), which begs the question of whether this is intended or not?
When I switch guard using a controller I rarely ever use the bottom half of the stick as it is faster to use the top half incase I need to switch to an overhead guard. I doubt a wider area of activation for the hidden stance would cause many accidental switches and I for one would welcome being able to rely more on my hidden stance, especially due to its' incredible feint potential.
I'd be interested to hear if other Nobushi players have this issue too as I pretty much never see other people using the hidden stance.
Thanks
