Hey all, So I would like to bring this to attention seeing as since the update from the 28th, warden (My main) has become no longer fun to play. From the launch of the game Warden has been an amazing character to play as and was the first character I fell in love with. His sword play was perfect and if you met a player that liked to "dishonorably?" spam move such as throws or consistent spinning attacks, you could punish them. All an all warden has been my favorite character to main and an amazing play. But literally for the last three days I have actually been raging at the game. here is what I have notice and I hope is improved upon for the sake of me continuing to play what I think is an amazing game with some brilliant potential behind it.
1: Since the patch I have notice many things about the warden. First off, heavy attacking after a grab is near pointless. Previous to these last three days, a heavy attack could easily be followed up with after a successful grab and then bounced away from. Now of course there is the argument that an attack like that shouldn't be available to the Warden. and here is my argument. many other classes such as the shugoki, crusader, Law Bringer and Valkyrie and various others ALL have attacks that stun/ knock down/ or disorient an opponent and are followed up by a near unlockable attack that unless successfully parried is incredibly devastating. For the Warden's heavy attack to be consistently blocked over and over makes that form of attack pointless. This leaves the only option to be the quick attack. Which barely does enough damage to be useful, can be easily blocked, and leaves the warden open to various forms of counter attacks and other assaults that have made the character less then desirable to play. (what am I going to do, switch to an orochi?) Which brings me up to my second point.
2: Since the latest patch I have notice that the warden is NO LONGER effective and blocking. In fact, I have found that when under an assault by an orochi, valkrie or a peacekeeper, my only hope is that they make the mistake of trying to attack from the top, and I land a successful counter strike for it seems that the warden is no longer able to keep up with hardly any blocks. (AND I HAVE VIDEOS OF THE RIGHT STICK INDICATOR IN POSITION TO GUARD AND NO GUARD COMING UP SO DONT YOU DARE TRY AND TELL ME ITS ME.) I'm not sure if the recent patch has anything to do with it, but it is a game killing issue for me. In fact, For honor has been my go to game for several weeks now simply to get that honorable dueling fix. Immersion is a key reason I buy games and as of late, For Honor has failed to do that for me. I like to think of myself a fair player and prior to the last three days, I was completely able to say "Yep, this guy is a better player then me." EVEN FOR OROCHIS and accept defeat. As of late its been nothing but questioning game mechanics or latency issues. I'm not sure what the case is, but as a guy who has mained the warden since the beta and launch of the game (I believe he was perfectly fine at launch) I can definatly say, SOMETHING HAS CHANGED AND IT HAS MADE THE GAME UNDESIERABLE TO PLAY FOR ME.
3. This is a little game analysis and psychology from me to the devs. I fight for the Knights. They appeal to me for their cause and the luster of the idea of a noble disciplined warrior going into battle in the name of peace. And among most knights the warden is rather appealing to that. not to bash on the rest of the characters, but to break it down, The Conqueror is widely recognized as being a cheap play. And most people don't like to fight against them because of their move set. Which leaves people who play knights for the honorable appeal to either the Peacekeeper, Law Bringer, or the Warden, Now the Lawbringer is indeed one of the most difficult characters to play as which can leave him un-preferred amongst players. This drops down to two options. The Warden and the Peacekeeper. Now amongst the community I can see that the peacekeeper is played by players with a more active style of play. Which leaves Wardens as the thinkers. with that being said, in the current state of play, the warden is now undesirable for play. Which drops the number of knights, which in turn effects faction war. (What's the point of playing for a faction if the characters are all not fun to play or you feel dirty playing them?) Low numbers of knights Plus characters that are either to difficult to play casually, or are out classed by other factions characters = constant losses which lead to players either not playing the game or switching factions. (And historically with fighting games throwing your controller into the wall and saying F this game is much easier then saying "I'm going to continue playing this game but go with a different faction. Just look at Mortal Kombat X) Which to me predicts the down fall of a huge player base for For Honor.
I hope that my concerns have shed some light on the current state of the warden.
If anything I would love to hear some feedback from the Developers in the current state of the Warden as this is a pivotal point in my continuation of playing the game. YOUR MICRO TRANSACTIONS ARE ON THE LINE!!!!!!
Thank you for taking the time to read this post!
Sincerely,
A friendly Warden.
