Great update Ubisoft and in the patch you never mention to changing break normal GB.
They posted a long *** time ago that they were changing guardbreak countering back to how it was in the betas in this patch, what the hell are you talking about?

In fairness to Ubi they mentioned intoday's Warrior's Den that they're aware of and looking at the defensive meta issue.

Its supposed to be chess not checkers. The defense first meta is the way it absolutely should be. But to get an outcome there should be something added to give the win to the more active fighter or the guy who has the most stamina left should win.

So you think that a good match between 2 top players should be them staring at each other until the timer runs out because neither of them wanted to be the idiot that attacked first?

No, i just understand about if you miss a GB, your GB doesnt touch opponent, and our opponent use GB and we get unbreakable GB. Not the normal breaking GB

    This.

What chance have we got of FH becoming a great Esport if the above scenario as Aarpian describes becomes the standard fighting paradigm?

I repeat; this is about finding a balance between offence and defence. It's not about creating a hack and slash game like Nioh or whatever.

At the moment the combat paradigm is patently skewed too much towards defence.

    - most assassins play more offensive

    - wardens using more and more of their vortex, so they basically become the new warlord in spamming an attack that you cant counter on reaction

    - the number of afk dom-ai leechers is getting bigger and bigger and that needs to be stopped before the turtle-meta gets addressed imo.
The last one is getting really bad, i cant get into a game vs AI anymore and actually play the game, and i don't duel anymore cause its just a matter of who has more patience wins...or whoever abuses cheese tactics/ high level tech better wins

Oh and i dont play 4v4 cause its a joke at this point in time...

Love this game, but im really only playing it at this point so im not **** when it comes out of its beta

Nothing has changed. it's been like that since day 1 in top tier. if players of lower skill are learning to tech more often now that simply means you as a player need to become better and not rely on randomly thrown GB's to get your damage in.

Yes. defensive play is awful and it should be fixed. and if this patch made it worse (which I really really doubt) it just means the issue will become far more visible for the devs which means they might take action sooner.

My guess is within a month they'll implement more chip damage. It's probably not an ideal solution but I can't see anything else doing the job in the short term.

Time is of the essence because I sense this community needs to get more critical mass going if there's to be any chance of it becoming a serious online gaming presence and Esport.

If we're waiting for months, a lot of good players will leave out of frustration with the defensive meta, and only a rump of hardcore types will be left.

I suggested in another thread that guard break attempts should do a minimal amount of damage, as this would discourage people from just standing right in your face waiting for you to do something and not being afraid of a GB attempt because of how easy it is to counter. I think that if two people threw out a GB, the first person who threw it first should still get the damage even if there is some type of cancel, so this would prevent people from just hitting GB in close range praying for an "auto cancel" or whatever.

Think about it, what kind of sense does it make that you get elbowed in the chin 50 times with no ill effects coming of it? It only makes sense that an uppercut to the nose/chin would do at least 5-8 dmg. Maybe 5 I guess would be the magic number since I know some light attacks only do 8 (I think).

I really hope somehow they see this suggestion because I honestly think it is the answer. This would force people to commit to light attacks in close range because a light attack is the counter to a GB. At the same time, it would force people into going for GBs to to beat the other guy to the punch and not take that GB damage. You'll still be able to counter it just fine, but you'll be punished for letting a guard break touch you.

If you agree with this, help me spread the word. This is the only thing that can save this game right now, cause its looking bad at this point. We don't want fights where someone breaks 50 guard break attempts and no punishment comes from it, and all of us that play at a high level KNOW that this is what frequently happens.

More chip damage would be a good start. but both parries and GB's will need some tweaking still.
