    is playing for honor with only keyboard recommendet?

    Hey guys,
    one question that maybe appears a bit special. Has any one of you experience playing for honor not with keyboard and mouse...but with the keyboard only? Cause i heard from a few streamers know that playing with keyboard is better than playing with keyboard and mouse since you can control the block direction way better then moving your mouse (this is the reason also many recommend playing with a controller) but also everyone of them quit playing with keyboard only after a while since it is truly cancer to play this way. i tried it out today against bots, and i took the directions of blocking on the num key 4 for left, 8 for up and 6 for right. the light attack i choosed the right arrow key, for guard break the down key and for heavy attack the num enter key because my thump and my pinkie finger lay on this keys

    As an enemy i choose an level 3 pk bot since her attacks are very fast. And even the matter, that i tried this method out just today it was truly awesome to see how easy it is to block this way, since you can choose your block and attack direction way more faster and also directer then moving your mouse to the sides. What didnt work so well was the rest of the control. Attacking was just cancer, guard or counter guard break with the pinkie finger didnt work very well and you cant move your kamera what means you have to play with your mouse + keyboard while you are not in the focus/duel mode and then fast switch your right hand to the keyboard after you go to the duel mode what is rly not an good method.

    So i thought that maybe my control was just bad since i didnt found an guide about playing for honor just with keyboard but when i put my hand on the letter-keys the thump of the right hand will always lay on the space bar so i dont know where to put my hand to take out the best use of my fingers.

    So after my little test i found that yes, playing with only your keyboard will improve your block direction rly hard, but you will lack in many other things, like switching from duel to "normal" mode when you have to run away cause someone is ganking you for example, your counter guard break and your attacks. So as long i dont see a way to make more out of your right hand on the keyboard i dont see a reason to switch from mouse+keyboard to only keyboard even if i should master this cancer control.

    so i want to hear what is your experience or thoughts about playing only with the keyboard and how are you keybindings? do you think it is just a funny gimmick or are you thinking that if you master it correctly it will rly benefit your playstyle?

    Yes, it can benefit your playstyle. If you, as said, have the directions of guard mode set to numeric keys, you should have no problem switching from mouse to num pad, if you have ordinary keyboard + mouse layout...for example...lying on the table right next to each other. Should be pretty fast and precise switching, because you can center your hand right above the num pad automatically without any sight etc.

    So in my opinion, your problem is just that you need to get used to it.

    I use this method just if I want to troll someone with blocking, otherwise I am using my mouse.
    My binds are like...
    Guard Break - Q, E
    Movement - just an ordinary W, A, S, D
    Stances - num 4, 8, 6 (left, top, right)
    Feint - Mouse 4, Num 5
    Light Attack - Mouse 1, Num 0
    Heavy attack - Mouse 2, num Enter
    Revive - Mouse 3, right Control
    the rest is pretty much default...
    every bind is subject of possible change, for sure...

    This allows you to be able attack and move the camera outside of locked guard mode as well as using your attacks while switched to keyboard only. Also this will allow you to choose in live match whether you want to use mouse or only keyboard, both with full bindings, no need to rebind for each single method.

    But hey...it may became very boring because if you play vs. an opponent where you both may perform 20 guard breaks, each countered, then the game happens to be quite long with all the precise blocks...

    thx i give it a try how to give a move 2 bindings? so i can play with keyboard only and with the mouse? cause always if i give one action a different key then i cant use the old one anymore so i cant lets say play with keyboard only but use the mouse if i have to switch often between duel mode and normal mode in a short time. how did you fix it or are you changing your keys all the time you go from playing with keyboard only to playing with keyboard and mouse?

    Go to your Documents\My Games\For Honor\Options.ini file and just put propper key bindings on the .secondary key row. Like for example...
    Gameplay.GuardBreak=E
    Gameplay.GuardBreak.Secondary=Q
    btw, notice, you may have only two keys bound to a single action, no more. However, you may have bound more than two keys to a single action, if your keyboard drivers will allow you to remap for example O to W etc...
    btw2, dont forget to backup your original file

    I havent tried keyboard only yet because cant look around and sometimes when performing quick zone attacks or charges will probably be hard to do when switching to mouse and then quickly back to keyboard again.

    Instead I have bound my guard stances to WAD, which means that I'm blocking to the direction where I'm moving. I havent encountered any problems with this method. Options says it compromises the keybinds but you can ignore that message.

    i dont know man, when you play pk or another hero with a small attack range and you play against someone with a high range you have to go near, andif a nobushi is attacking from left and you want to close the distance between you what are you going to do? i like emoKittenCZ solution way more, but i dont know if the double keybinding out of the game is ok for ubi or not

    Cannot tell you if it is ok for them or not. I can only tell you, that I am using if since Beta with any problem. I can tell you, that I am not alone who uses it. I can tell you that it is in folder where another ini file is directly used for user input, by advice of Ubisoft itself. I can tell you that if they would not want us to edit it, they would not put there only a plain text file which can be edited by anyone. And even more, if they would not want you to edit that, why would they pre-fill the .secondary actions, if there is no settings in ingame options? Many games uses this method for user input for settings. If it would not be ok for them, then they fail a lot. Look on other ubi games, look for example on wildlands - almost the same options in game, but it allows you to bind secondary keys right in ingame options. Why in some game it could be possible and in another game it would not be possible just because it was made by another team of developers who are not as professional as the other one? Also if they ask you to modify another ini file ("key bindings" for controllers/gamepads/wheels/joysticks/...) so editing this would be ok, but editing a pc keyboard would not be ok, that would be also a stupid attitude. So I believe it should be ok. It can also be something what makes easy job for them by letting ppl doing it yourself this way. Some of those ppl would not like it, some of them would love it. I played CoD for many years and all the bindings I made I made out of game settings in console or in the config file itself. So I am used to this method and I like it.

    And you cannot wait here for someone from ubi to confirm this, because those active ubi members here are mods who does not have theese valid informations. You may create a support ticket but you may die of old age before you get an answer, because they seem to be kind of ...sleeping or not reacting at all. Theese guys are active, but they dont reply every thread because ... what should they reply? Spamming "Hey, thanks, we posted this to our dev team's board" in every thread could be contraproductive

    So it is your choice
