Hi Guys,
So - I know a few of you have had the Error code CE-34878-0 when trying to play this game.
I was under the impression that it was the Games fault and not my internet. Oh boy was I wrong.
Now - it is partially the fault of the game as it requires you to have a very good internet connection for your PS4 (Ideally 1.5mbps down speeds minimum).
If you do a test on your ps4's internet, and its below this amount, then that is the problem, please follow the below steps (this worked for me on Virgin Media).
1. Log into your router
2. Go into your settings and make sure that you change your download speeds to "Up to 300mb p/s" - virgin will by default limit your download speeds!! Check online on how to do this.
3. Manually assign your PS4 to a specific IP address (static) and then create a DMZ rule for that IP address so no other device can use it.
4. Port forward your PS4 - there are online guides on how to do this, ensure you are using the ideal ports for your PS4.
5. Change the channel that your router is using from AUTO to a singular channel, try which one works best and use internet speed test to check the difference
6. If you can - change your Radio type from B/G/N to just "N"
7. Change your DNS settings to Googles: Primary DNS: 8.8.8.8 Secondary DNS: 8.8.0.0
I'm sorry that I couldnt elaborate on these points, but I know nothing about routers and networking and had to learn how to do this myself.
After I did all of these my PS4 download speeds changed as such:
Test 1 before changes: 450kbps(down)/3mbps(up)
Test 2 after changes : 3.7mbps(down)/550kbps(up)
Basically if you have throttled or rubbish internet, this game wont work for you as you are relying on others network connection as well as your own on a P2P server system.
So, after i made this changes, I was able to play a whole game of Dominion without the game crashing, where as before I couldnt play 5 seconds.
It did crash afterwards, but I reloaded the game and played again, and it didnt crash afterwards. BINGO!!! It took me so long to work around this but now I know more about networking and optimizing routers... and lost about 20 hours of my life for such a simple solution if you know what to do.
You really have to just learn this yourself, as the generic information they give out will just prompt you in the right way, they dont have the time to go through this with everyone.
Any edits or any additives to this post are most welcome, I'm just relaying what has worked for me.
