Good job For Honor dev team!

I honestly never thought this breakthrough game (MOBA with fighting) would have this level of depth in terms of fight mechanics.

I recently tested out a "bug" and how it works... It was actually a kara-cancel and not a bug !!!

Omfg, this game has kara-cancels now? Please give the game ranked and watch it soar into e-sport domain. Forget about the haters, this game is as balanced as fighting games get... There are always going to be some heroes stronger than others. I was actually able to beat a really good Warlord with my Orochi, I just had to try harder with more feints and kara-cancels and holy ****, this game is approaching Street Fighter level of depth in the "fighting" aspect!!!

    Good job!

I am going to buy more steel in support of this awesome game!

I'm agree with that, a lot of peoples are complaining because...well....peoples like to complain but the game is great.
This is why I always say not to change the core system of the game, it's awesome the way it is right now and from my personal experience (of a decent player, I'm nothing crazy but I don't suck either, I have a pretty easy time on duel with various characters for example) there is not a lot I could complain about.

The best modes for me personally are 1v1 and Dominion and once you learn how to deal with every characters it's not as unbalanced as many people claim and every so called "broken" character can be dealt with just fine with a little practice/work on the match up (even though I'm not saying that there is no characters stronger than others, there is obviously but I don't know any fighting game that's perfectly balanced anyway, I think it's impossible to reach that point of perfection).

The only thing that Ubi have to fix are the bugs with the server which are really annoying and the deathmatch session which feel much less fun than the others to me (kinda feel like a cheaper version of Dominion (without the strategic aspect) or extended 2v2).

But that's it, I really enjoy the game so far.

    Not Ready for E-Sports

Coming from a fighting game background with many years of competitive playing and viewing experience, I can say with relative certainty the game won't have longevity in the esports scene if it doesn't make some changes.

Right now, it's suffering from "Brawl" syndrome, the 3rd (and least successful) installment in the Smash Bros. franchise where defensive play was more powerful than offensive play. For Honor may have a hype train running now, but a month or two on stage without some major mechanical updates and you'll be resident-sleeper'd straight back into obscurity.

Love it or hate it, spectatorship defines the success of a game in the e-sports scene. This game isn't ready for that.

What is the kara cancel? Was it for a specific hero or is it for universal mechanic? And thanks! Wait until people start to find option selects and what not. I could turn out to be a good time!

Gonna quote something from Gamefaqs from years ago. This is from a SF3S perspective.

    "Kara is Japanese for Empty.

Kara Cancels are canceling moves during their early frames (almost always before said move goes into active frames*) into specials, supers, or throws. This is primarily done for positioning purposes. Kara canceling moves that cause your character to move forward into throws can increase your throw range by a good margin. These positioning changes can also open up combos that are otherwise difficult, or outright impossible to land, such as Ken's double LP Shoryuken, and Makoto's infamous full-stun combo.

*One exception I can think of is Makoto's Kara-Karakusa, in which you cancel her standing WK into her command throw. Since WK activates so fast, it will hit before the Karakusa comes out if you are too close. But it's used to let Makoto grab people at ranges that are pretty ridiculous."

Basically, you intentionally whiff a move and cancel it, usually early, to get a position change or to cause your opponent to try to respond, then cancel the whiffed move into your actual attack.

Here's a quick video showing the difference. First shows the grab range, then the weak kick movement, and finally using the WK, then cancelling the whiffed WK into Makoto's command grab, using the positioning change from the WK.

Not sure how having "kara-cancels" somehow heralds this game as now being esports worthy, or reveals some incredible genius on behalf of Ubisoft. You can have a budget 1.99$ stick figure fighting game where all the attack frames for any attack are cancellable due to bad programming, and I wouldn't agree that this would make the game a hidden gem.

If they give dodge I-frames right off the bat, it will be an option - select with deflect on assassin's. This will make deflects not useless compared to parrying.

Currently, dodge and deflect timing is too different. Good players either deflect or dodge, those two doesn't overlap unless you suck at timing.

Deflect is fine. It's literally identical to parrying with a different button.

Agreed with the first post. I am loving the game, I got to rep three without season pass but have since purchased it and am loving every minute.
I am really excited about the upcoming content and glad they are hard at work. Thank you Ubisoft for making a game I am having a lot of fun with.
Check out the livestream if you haven't seen it yet, they answer a lot of questions there. https://youtu.be/ywiqxjE9rQI
